Doctor Blake Mysteries - NF from Aus: set in early fifties. Really enjoyed it

Life on Mars - amazon prime britbox package: cop show set in 70s. New take on time travel. I was addicted and couldn’t stop watching.

We loved Dr Blake and also subscribe to Britbox. Lots of good shows on that.

Detectorists: NF, british, understated humor done superbly. Characters three dimensional. I love this show. Episodes are only 25 min and seasons short. Warning: not action packed; nothing blows up. Well, except for a reference to one of the characters who did blow up.

Just finished Jack Ryan, very much enjoyed. These types of series can be expensive to make, many cut the corners to reduce cost. They didn’t with this one, the details are well done. I thought they rushed the finale a bit though. Instead of 8 episodes it needed to be 10, imho. Really glad to see Michael Kelly will be joining the cast for season 2.

I have been pleasantly surprised by The Haunting Of Hill House on Netflix. Well done horror series in the style of Hitchcock.

Just had someone, co worker, recommend it.

    For me:
    The haunting of Hill house.
    Stranger things
    Mindhunter.
    Better Call Saul
    Breaking Bad

    Also, parks and recreation

Yep excellent. The ending to ep 5 was both profound yet sad. Much pathos. And 6 was brilliant technically, done in a single take,...well, 5 actually. Due to flashbacks....

9 was another that was emotionally taxing.

    About to view the finale.

It’s complicated. With the flashbacks. And the number of characters. And all the brunettes. Took awhile to get my bearings.

    Just watched episode one.

I must have asked my wife, at least 8x.... “now who the hell is that?”.

    Lol!

We do seem to be missing one of the siblings. At one point the attorney referenced driving off “with 5 kids in the car”.
We only remember the young brother and sister who shared the room, the older sister and older brother.

Also Theo...Theodora. She’s in episode 3. Has the ability to sense thru touch.

Yes, I agree. I was a bit confused by it. It’s interesting to see it all thru, at the end there’s a scene where time and experiences are discussed in a soliloquy...instead of linear, experiences are like confetti. Not sure if that’s in the jackson novel? But that first episode was non-linear to me!

First 5 episodes focus on a sibling. Oldest to youngest. How they grapple as adults from their summer in Hill House and what they remember about Hill house. And their perspective of the night Nell goes back....

It’s like a big puzzle....the pieces are added with each episode. That might be a better analogy than confetti. (Btw, that just sparked a thought....mom is an architect. She draws up plans of the house...and has what could be a *The Shining* moment! First sign something is amiss!) ( see what she does with the plans when you come to it!)

    I will be re-starting tonight....

Been watching Justified, six seasons, not bad, especially with no commercials.

In the not top 5 Netflix has cancelled Luke Cage. I like the superhero movies and some of the shows but it was pretty boring.

I liked LC, but look for all the Marvel netflix series to end as Disney spins up the Marvel streaming service.

Netflix has the rights to continue their existing shows so Disney’s streaming service wasn’t a consideration. Luke Cage was just a failed show.
