If formal legal racism is the definition, then America was definitely a 'racist country' within the lifetime of many people still alive today. It wasn't until the 60s that legal racism fell, and we abolished our racist immigration laws. Wasn't until the late 70s/1980s that redlining was made illegal. If affirmative action is "reverse racism" as some people like to argue, then America is I suppose still a 'racist country' for still having formalized racism, right?

I mean, if I was looking for a definition of a racist country, I might start with one that fought a war over owning black people and still had establishments with whites only signs up in people who post here's lifetimes.

On what basis can you compare racism between countries if it takes so many forms based on so many factors? Seems pretty useless to me.

The nations border is used as the delineation. The assessment could have been made by continent or city if they chose to. In any case the assessment is used to identify pockets where racism is prevalent based on population.

But if racism is different and takes on different forms across borders, what is the use in comparing it across borders?

Perhaps you did not read the definition of racism that was provided? As for as the survey my understanding is the questions were based on that very definition.

As to forms of racism what other forms of racism are there that is not included in the definition provided in the article?

I did, but right after it defines racism, it says this lol:

If it takes many forms for many reasons, how can it be compared?

I'd be surprised if all four of them actually called the US a racist country.

So because a country fought a war 150 years ago and 60+ years ago they are still racist today?

You could look at places where racism is a major part of the CURRENT daily life. But you might have to realize racism isn't always the white man oppressing others....

It does but at the core of racism is the belief of superiority of one's race over another. How that superiority is demonstrated or enacted is a form of racism. In all cases the core definition of racism does not change.

One thing to keep in mind is that we judge ourselves differently than some other countries. We hold ourselves to a higher standard than, say, Jordan or Indonesia.

That said, I wouldn't consider us a racist country. There's plenty of racism. Much more than I thought, as a matter of fact. But I don't think it bleeds through our entire being. Not even close.
There are obviously those who would like it to, tho.

Correct to be considered the things that are done must prove that the individuals belief is that they are superior to another race. As I said racism is an individual trait. The survey was given to individuals of the populace of the country it did not make any assessment what the country does or does not do to promote a belief of racism.

Yes, thanks to the left and independents who make up the majority. Your minority party though is the opposite.

    Congratulations.
