Yea the OL recruiting is an issue imo. RB has been bad but you can get around that. The talent a long the OL has increased each season Mullen & O has been here buuuuut we have to start winning battles for elite players. The last of the ELITE OL this cycle who we've had talks with are Mims, Leigh, and Rocci & noone believes we're a serious threat fpr them at this time.
That's my feeling too. If he wants in, and that's the talk, don't overthink it and get him.

Just stunning to me that UF, whom slung the ball all over the place last year, can't sign one of the top five receivers in the state. Dayumn

Yea man even including the 2018 season, we've been progressing in the passing game and we can't close on the top WR targets. Good news is that at least we're in the top 3 for a lot of those kids. We just gotta get a few more because we DID get Copeland (back) in the 2018 cycle who was the 2nd best WR in the state and Hendo last season who was the 2nd best WR in the state.

It’s not just those 2 either ...TAM & Auburn have more sophisticated networks around the program than we do as well.

Hard to compete with the Benjamins with a lot of kids nowadays.

Has little to do with what we do on the field IMO. Until we can match the "compensation package" the gumps and some others offer, we will miss on certain types of recruits.

Wouldn't say "little to do" but moreso it isn't the end all be all with what we do in the passing game equating to us landing multiple top flight WR's each cycle (top 100 overall is what im referring to).

If they got "the goods", they aren't likely to spill the beans even if they aren't happy. Especially if they are per$uaded to not spill the beans, which I'm sure the gumps are good at.

It doesn't matter how Bama does it, only that they do it.

I think this point is something that people here don't give enough credence to. Kid's who's primary objective is getting to the NFL are more often than not looking for schools that produce the most successful NFL talent at their position.

In my opinion, it's the same reason UF hasn't recruited very well at RB for quite a while. The kids we're recruiting now have seen guys like Cook and Freeman from FSU, Gurley, Chubb and Michel from UGA, Henry and Ingram from Bama, Fournette from LSU, etc.

Since Fred Taylor, UF really hasn't put a single high profile RB in the NFL. When was the last time we had a high profile NFL WR? Have we produced a high profile NFL offensive skill position player at any position since the Meyer era? I think that's about to change but I just don't think UF has been very attractive to the the elite offensive skill position recruits for over a decade. Defense is a different story.

I suspect that the miles make much less of a difference than the dollars.

Champ never landed a top class. I doubt you want the answer to the Meyer question and think that may be part of why he left UF for greener pastures. Zook recruited well and beat FSU at its own game a couple of years, but I don't know of any of the big Football schools that had sold out to making a complete mockery of amateurism rules like they have done in the last decade or so.

You said top class, not one of the top classes. I think getting into the top 5 happened once, and it was so unbalanced between O and D that it took the Gators until 2018 to straighten it out. In retrospect, I doubt that class would be ranked in the top 10.

I should have been more clear, my apologies. A top class, not the top class. 247 has muschamp at 9,3,3,9. Not sure which site you follow. balance is important in building a team, but not in showing that most coaches at UF have recruited better than we have lately.

I don't recall the other 3rd ranked class, but then again I didn't look and just based it on memory. Didn't do much good for Will or the Gators however.

Agree. It started getting out of control (due to no threat from NCAA) when Saban went to Bama. I think Urban got tired of the uneven playing field wrt recruiting against them and that was one of the reasons he got "burned out".

And just because the recruiting geeks like (rank highly) a class doesn't mean it's good.

No, but it does show that the coach recruited well.

Are you kidding? If they can say an animal like a Gator, and being bait to such an animal is racist, then I'm sure the NCAA will look racist if he does NOT get his waver...
