Bama's pitch - "If you're gonna be in a motor vehicle accident, might as well be sitting in your new dodge charger rather than being hit by one on your scooter."

Do we expect TG to stick around another year? Sure he got a nice raise, but it seems like he had one foot out the door, and if another NFL program comes calling, I think he's gone. His son is a senior in HS so he doesn't have that keeping him around this time around.

Assistant coaching jobs are a very nomadic lifestyle for coaches and their families. Look at most coaches resumes and you will see many jobs and moves, as they navigate their careers upward.

Probably. That's just part of coaching at a high level.

He's had to take his son out of his high school when he moved to UF from miss st so it's not favoritism for one kid.

I guess he likes playing second fiddle. First at Oklahoma and then Clemson. And those are the two that I know of...

He gets paid well enough and wins. I could deal with it. Guess my ego is not self consuming

What I mean to say is that it sure would be nice to find a coach like that... maybe we already found one in our DC.. ;)

I was a position coach in high school for many years. I loved it. I had no aspirations of moving up. I ran the JV one year and hated being the head coach.
Head coach may just not be a good fit for him.

I don't think those who haven't done it understand the huge difference between an assistant and the HC. So many examples could be named of people who were great position coaches and mediocre as a head coach.

Are we even trying to get fast/speedy players anymore? Losing Schwartz pissed me off and... forget it.

Great point! If you’ve never been truly in charge then ( no disrespect) you would not know. Most Assistants of anything sleep really well at night. I can tell you this most leaders don’t sleep all that well. If they say they do they may be lying. The rare few that do are ready to retire or taking a sleeping pill to help them.

    HUGE difference.

We have Chuck Heater back on Gator football team as an Analyst. One of best safety coaches in college football. You would think between or current safety coach, Ron English, and Chuck, safeties would be jumping at the chance to join UF. Especially with Maye, Neal, and recently Gardner-Johnson, ... drafted into the NFL

I'm soo glad Coach Chucky is back in the fold and man i REALLLLY hope that we can get Marquand on the staff since he's not the NFL as a coach currently. I don't even care if it would be a stop gap for him.

Just my opinion but I don’t see Schwartz taking snaps from the Gator receiving corps in ‘18 or ‘19.

Yes, our depth chart was probably not appealing to him. If Franks has a good year this year, he may wish he was with us. I worry though about having these dual sport guys. Football, training specifically for football, passing classes, and having something resembling a life is too much for most guys without adding another sport with its meetings, schedule, and sport-specific training. Most of them will not develop into the football player they could have been.
