I'm working today. I've had two days off in the last 5 weeks, including one sick day. It pays to be politically connected in Jersey ... literally.

The vast majority of even decent jobs give Labor Day off

Well, I can’t answer for others but the only way I would have Labor Day, or any, Holiday, off for that matter, would rely on 2 things for me. One, if the Holiday was already on one of my 2 days, say such as when I had Monday and Tuesday off. Or maybe after about 20 years or so, depending on my Seniority compared to the other Agents I worked with, if less Agents were needed to work, then I would get the day off. I first worked for National Airlines in MIA for 2 years, and then Northwest Orient Airlines for 32 years at DCA ORD MIA FLL TPA and MCO and then retired.

Emotional, I loved my Job, yes I did! And it was much farther better than just being “decent”. Yes it was! So of course, Airports never close. At some, maybe on certain Holidays, a couple of flights aren’t needed. In Florida, that sure was different. Some Holidays can be very busy, very much so. Airports in Florida, some more than others can even be busier. I ended with NWA at MCO (Orlando) and New Years Day was very busy! A lot of people would start heading back up North, but other days after New Years Day, were also very busy and Booked full, so maybe they couldn’t get a reservation, maybe on the 3rd or 4th or so only. So they would book on the First of January, that was when they could get a Reservation on. So other Holidays, depending, could be very busy at Airports in Florida. Some more than others, of course.

I spent the day putting up my extensive collection of white shoes.
