My basis is that he never played point in high school (Aberdeen was the point on Kugel’s team.) Kugel is a high flyer..extremely athletic type….but does not dribble low and quick to defeat double team pressure for instance.

As a lifelong point guard, I’d have to disagree. You don’t need to dribble low or fast to beat a double team. It’s usually best not to dribble through a trap, even though many can and do. What you really need is vision and crisp passing. The highlights I’ve seen of Kugel suggest that he could play the point. I could be wrong, but I’d err on the side of he could do it much more than that he couldn’t do it.

Sounds like Bonham is really turning heads in practice.

Dr. Phillips started 3 guards. The 3rd guard was about 6 feet tall. Kugel was at the top of the key with the ball in his hands as often as the other 2 guys. He might have been the leader in assists on the team. He has been getting some time at the point in practice at UF. My whole point is that we have depth at the point.

There was a practice update that he was “running the offense with ease, scoring off hesitation dribbles, and passing behind the back with confidence and cannot be stopped.”

Also there was reference in a recent article that Lofton was the presumed starter since his commitment but Bonham has been playing outstanding in practice and is earning some PT.

Glover is going to be heartbroken when he reads how you write about Kugel.

These guys are like children, not like spouses. You can love a bunch of them without feeling guilty.

Coach says Loften needs to get healthy and get his stamina back. Castleton and him went to SEC Media Day.
