Chick cant keep her purse safe and is a mark for cons.
    • Basically a criminal sends a letter threatening to shoot the president in the name of an undocumented immigrant who was a witness in a crime.
    • Christine Noem loves the narrative so much she skips any investigation and doxes the guy on social media and has him arrested.
    • The arrested individual was the target of the criminal who wrote the letter.
    • The fact that the man was undocumented and left the scene of a car he hit once will be enough for right wingers to be ok with the lack of due process.
    • Noem is an idiot.
Kristi Noem said a migrant threatened to kill Trump. Investigators think he was set up | CNN Politics

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem posted a stunning allegation on Wednesday: A undocumented migrant sent a letter threatening to kill President Donald Trump, promising to “self deport” after the assassination.

“Thanks to our ICE officers, this illegal alien who threatened to assassinate President Trump is behind bars,” Noem wrote in a social media post that included the letter and a picture of the man arrested. DHS also sent out a press release.

Law enforcement believes the man, Ramon Morales Reyes, 54, never wrote the letter, which was sent to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office and other law enforcement agencies, several sources familiar with the matter told CNN.

Instead, investigators suspect the letter was intended to benefit a separate individual who is currently awaiting trial in a robbery and assault case in which Reyes is a victim. They do not consider the threat to be credible.

I have a difficult time accepting elements of this story. First and foremost, I do not believe for one second Noem can read.

Once upon a time this would have been a huge scandal and grounds for firing. Now this will barely make news because of how far the bar has been lowered.

    1. What Noem did was idiotic and a total failure

    2. An undocumented (illegal) immigrant who commits a hit and run should be in jail at the least probably be sent packing asap.

    Both can be true.

My much catchier headline was edited into this lame one. I am not complaining mod gods, just disavowing the boredom level it now generates. Alternate B:

"Noem spilled the beans about who is the actual idiot"

    While I sort of agree.

It falls short because we are comparing misdeeds (hit and run) of an individual with the actions of a high ranking official. We should expect more of one than the other.

The fact that a criminal, robber, knows they can harness the Gov’t to do their dirty works says something else. Rhetoric gone wild.

Tilly... he was arrested for that. He was not convicted of it. Shit. He was arrested for trying to assassinate the president and didnt do that. When can we expect due process for people conservatives dont favor?

I sure hope they at least allow this guy to remain in the country to testify against the perpetrator of both the letter and the initial robbery against him. Otherwise, the administration is effectively legalizing crime against immigrants if they deport them before being allowed to testify as a victim.

At least she's not a thief like this guy. He should be in jail.

I feel so much better that she cant keep her purse safe and gets conned by criminals. This woman spends too much time blowing out her hair and dressing up in faux camo outfits to play soldier by pointing guns at guys brains to be effective. No wonder she is getting conned and stolen from. She's a bumbling bimbo.

And I guess you want to keep pedophiles in office since there are so many GOP pedos? I see you supporting the GOP so you must support pedos? That is your exact argument turned around.

He deserves due process. But that is deportable to in my opinion if convicted.

Call me old school, but I'm not.a fan of referring to someone illegal as "undocumented".

He was an illegal alien deserving of due process, but a hit and run should be a pretty big strike against the process.

I agree on the hit and run issue for an illegal.

    But

The bigger issue is an armed robber realizing he can harness the outrage to get his case thrown out.

The threat info was False. A fakery, a hoax even.

Maybe claiming the outrageous illegals victimhood as a set up could get him a pardon.

I have a family member that's in prison. Maybe I should send an email to ICE Barbie and say they were setup by a woke, DEI illegal

As long as you think due process is in play I am fine. I wouldnt be surprised to find the accusations made up at this point. They are running around calling that imprisoned El Salvadorian guy a gangbanger based on the unsworn testimony he liked the Chicago Bulls by someone found to be lying in other cases just for PR purposes. As if that is more important than individual rights.

This is why so-called “sanctuary cities” have their policies. So immigrants can cooperate with law enforcement as witnesses and not have their immigration status against them.

Of course in this case, sounds like the immigrant has his own criminal past which should have him deported. He isn’t exactly a model for that type of sanctuary policy. So aside from the fact the administration fell for the hoax, it isn’t some travesty that this guy would be deported as he’s had multiple issues. Still makes you wonder about the criminal who mailed in the hoax. He should obviously be prosecuted and if he gets away with his crimes because of this “witness intimidation” stunt it sets a horrible standard.
