He wasn't the favorite of the establishment during the primaries but once he became the party's presumptive and later actual nominee the establishment rallied around him. Just a guess but if he ends up with the nomination they will do the same again.
Desantis has a network of some 40+ billionaires who support him. Koch folk may very well be among them. Btw, disney picked that fight-RD just picked up the gauntlet and crammed it down their gullet. The books thing is about books being taught in public schools. They remain perfectly accessible outside of publicly funded curricula. Just on ppl's own nickel. Kinda like Christians have to buy their own bibles and study them on their own nickel/time... "Dont say gay" the biggest farce of all, as it is and always was ltd to <= the 3rd #&%$! grade. The perverted assholes are the ones who aim to sexually groom children in that age group. Screw the pervs... The immigrant flights while no one wanted to go thst route, seem to be the only thing that has worked to garner attention. LMAO! @ NYC for crying uncle over 5,000 illegals, when 5-10x thst come into Texas every day, and while not that many come into Fla, certainly enough that 5,000 is just laughable. And your bitching sbout a couple of bus n planes full... Covid? Fugetaboutit... RD was spot on; Fauci's clownshow circus, a bad joke... RDe's taken some missteps, but on the whole, hes been pretty solid.
DeSantis record with rolling out the vaccines was just fine. The culture war has two fronts. I do agree that the plurality will be the question. His number (both in votes and dollars) is shrinking by the day however. He basically has a 10 point lead at halftime, but just gave up a pick and momentum has shifted with and entire second half to play. If this was February of 24 I'd be more concerned, but there is still a whole lot of time for the cracks to get bigger.
In some polls it has already happened. NBC News: Republican voters favor DeSantis over Trump in new poll
He is winning by more than 16%. And it is not getting closer. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e..._republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html
Although the margin may be narrowing a little when there is a crowed field Trump almost always wins. DeSantis polls well when it's a one on one but that's unlikely and the Republican method of allocating delegates through winner-take-all or weighted primaries works in the favor of a candidate who can win with a small plurality even if the said candidate doesn't come close to a majority. DeSantis Is Polling Well Against Trump — As Long As No One Else Runs President: Republican primary Polls
that is the outlier. Not sure why they haven’t updated here with that poll, but the overall trend is clear. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e..._republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html
The Kochs were never Republican nor conservative, they’re hard core plutocratic Libertarians. The only reason they attached themselves to the Republican Party is because the republicans were more than willing to trip over themselves to give up their conservative ideals in order to get that Koch money. To the Koch’s DeSantis is the ideal candidate because they’ll never find a more subservient cuckold of a candidate than him outside of Rick Scott or Lady Lindsey Graham.
Okay, here are a lot more polls.BTW, what you linked wasn't an NBC poll (it was Marquette Law School). https://www.realclearpolitics.com/e..._republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html
so much of this is disconnected from reality I won't bother to dispute point by point as your allegiance is clear regardless of facts. Go team
I think the field will be less crowded and the Halley's of the world will back out quickly seeking to be a running mate. There is no strategic advantage to crowding the pool again. I think the field narrows quickly with those bailing endorsing RD and bringing their supporters along. Trump didnt have a majority in 2016. He has less of one now. I assume they have learned their lesson.
No ones debating that, but when people say the gap isnt closing (all while major polling shows it is,) is what I am pointing out.
You are debating that the gap is closing. And it isn't. The Marquette Law School poll (it wasn't an NBC poll), didn't even ask a horserace primary question. When the horserace is asked, it isn't narrowing over time. It is amazing to watch the same people make the exact same arguments they made in 2016 but claim they will happen this time.
I would add that it was a one-on-one poll. Once again the link from post #26. DeSantis Is Polling Well Against Trump — As Long As No One Else Runs
The horserace questions are fictional untile we know who is running. DeSantis also does better against Biden than Trump does in polling. My guess is that the party sees this. The party wasnt sick of Trump in 2016. A lot of leadership is now and will create strategy based on that.
Lol, they were terrified of him winning in 2016. Half the people who served in his administration are on camera talking about how terrible Trump would be if he won in 2015/2016. The party threw everything they could at him. You keep acting like Republican voters like the Republican Party. They don't. Or that the Republican Party people will stick their neck out and potentially lose power if he were to win. They won't. When they can't even criticize him by name, that shows you the relative strength of the sides.
