Is this going to be the new excuse from Georgia fans for the next couple of years like it was for their last coach?

Will there be a special Bama edition of Whipped Puppy? That is the question!

After getting the 20-10 lead, Georgia stopped being aggressive on offense.
Smart became Muschamp/McElwain in the end.

This was Kirby Smart’s first try, and he came up short. I hope the trend continues forever, but let’s see what happens over the next few years before we annoint him as the new Mark Richt.

Heck Richt would have lost in the SEC Championship Game and never would have had them this far, so he's already ahead of the curve.

UGA will be back again. They came up short but Smart is obviously is good and is actually recruiting better than Bama right now

I’m glad they lost but let’s not kid ourselves. They are literally another Bama with a much easier path .... Same talent and same play style

Let’s hope we can actually keep it a close game soon or we might be in for what they sat through when we had Tebow

To me this is what made me the happiest. Defensive head coaches will always trust their defense to close out a close game and they don’t know how to be aggressive.

Outside of Jacob Eason, who they were, miraculously, able to replace, GA did not lose a starter, and even developed a third back to take some of the load off of Chubb and Michel. If Right was ever given a squad that healthy, I think he could have taken them just as far and possibly won.

Lets see how he does next year.
I think if he loses three games the UGA fans will be howling at the moon.

We can gloat all we want but we'd trade places with Georgia right now. That was a classic game. Bama won because Saban got smart (pun intended). He got smart by swapping players Kirby knows with players he ain't got nuthin on. Saban changed things up on Kirby and Kirby couldn't adapt quick enough. Smart plan if you ask me, might be Saban's greatest moment. So Saban slowly over the course of the 2nd half inserted freshmen offensive players replacing existing starters to the point that in the 4th quarter, Bama was featuring the freshmen squad. Smart, very smart.

Think about it. Ridley was getting upstaged by his brother, Bama's best offensive lineman not only couldn't block his man but got injured, the kicker sucked, Hurts was boxed in, and none of the backs Kirby has seen could do anything. So he inserts Tua in the 2nd half and Kirby is saying to himself, "who is this kid?" and then you start seeing freshmen receivers making plays, then eventually Najee got into the game. By the 4th quarter, Bama had a completely different team on offense than the one Kirby is used to seeing.

This is all true - and only possible when your 3-deep is 4* and 5* for about 10 damn years in a row. Who couldn't win with that kind of depth and talent? The free Cadillac Escalades (Ingram) and all this Dodge Charger bullshit is infuriating. There are two sets of rules, and Bama doesn't have to abide by either of them. Aside from all the success that purely comes with winning, Bama is using recruiting tactics that simply aren't available to us. The whole world knew that Auburn funneled money to Cam Newton's dad through a freaking church, and not a damn sole in the SEC or the NCAA did one f*!king thing about it. Some teams are allowed to do this shit, and others like UF are scrutinized over whether or not a kid is given change for a damn phone call.

Everybody doesn't have to play by the same rules, and this is the main thing that takes the fun out of this league anymore.

Thank God this season is finally over. Go Gators

Yeah, Kirby caught lightening in a bottle this year. How often do you have a freshman backup QB fill in for your injured starter and play better than the starter? Almost never. Combine that with the fact that UGA had no injury problems, Chubb and Michel came back, and you have a rare opportunity to win it all.

Maybe Kirby can do it again; with his recruiting and Fromm he just might. But this year everything that could go right did, and that rarely happens.

We played in two sec title games ourselves and losing wasn't something to covet.

Uga was prepared for a guy that was replaced.

    They never adjusted

I mean really. When the announcers said last night that Georgia had zero injuries all year except for Eason, I just shook my head at how lucky they have been, and how damn unlucky we've been. Yeah I get that S&C plays a huge role, but our team has literally been cursed with injuries for damn near all of Muschamp's and Mac's 7 years at the wheel combined.

I'm hoping this is as close as Kirby gets to a national championship for a while - he certainly had everything going for him this year.

That's not how Muschamp nor McElwain coached. They didn't even know how to get a lead against a good team. The failed former Gators coach who coached like that was clearly Ron Zook. How soon everyone forgets.
