There are not many coaches in college football like his coaches either. He is more the anomaly than the norm.
Would part of the reason be that we have a large DL class already, or mostly that we just aren't on his radar? I would take another talented elite rush end if staff wanted. But seems like we just need that one or two DTs to finish it. How would you feel if staff took another rush end? I guess two in a class is not too many since you would often field sets with two.
saw something on twitter from myles graham sending out encouragement to come to uf. thought keeley was 24. just a gut feeling uf is on him. tampa in our recruiting footprint and close to home. add academics and it looks even better.
Would love to see Keeley and James as bookend devastators for the Orange and Blue. C'mon Coach Blue Chip Billy, go get him.... " Get to the Quarterback!" The late, Al Davis..... R.I.P. GO GATORS!!!!
Sounds like bama flipped him, visited there recently before decommitting. But I believe I heard a podcast mention he was a Gator fan growing up so there might be a chance.
And we appear to still be in it for Tomarrion Parker. Our DL board is crazy. Deciding how to play this is going to be extremely difficult for the staff. I’m excited to see how it all plays out.
Hi bo - Okay this is nuts, but can you imagine a scenerio where UF has top 300 D-Line committs "de-committing" to make room for 5 stars?
Well these are the two I want the most because: A) Well damn, just look at em! 5 star MONSTERS! B) A SHARP stick in the eye to Alabama!!...and UGA!!!
No need to push them to decommit. Need lots of depth on the DL. Take 'em and sort it out next spring or summer.
Wiltfong has this in a video he released yesterday along with the decommitment announcement. Checked out the 23 recruiting classes for bama and tOSU. Neither have a player like Keon Keeley so they do have that going for them. Bama could pull a monster move and get both Keeley and Rushaw. (shaking head). Let's get the Tampa player Keeley if we can get him. UF has 2 players in the class who can play the edge, TJ Searcy and Isaiah Nixon, but Searcy is just as like to end up at SDE while both are projected to need a year or two of seasoning before they see the field. Nixon is straight edge. UF has nothing like Keon Keeley and he certainly wouldn't be scared off by either Searcy or Nixon. If, as you say, tOSU really isn't in it for Keeley, UF has to look pretty good on distance and UF is superior academically to bama which could be a factor with a player who qualifies to get into ND. EDIT: Kamran James: Is he an edge and/or an SDE?
KJ is a SSDE. Streets saying Russaw feeling UF a hit more than his teammate James Smith and since most feel they’re packake deal, gonna be tough but def no where close to impossible. Good thing is that if we miss on any more DE targets, we have a great haul as it is. Just would love another true DT to bring in along with Norman.
I saw where UF leads for Tomarrion Parker too after he decommitted Penn State. He's an edge and highly rated at that. I agree, need 2 inside DTs in class. The position need that looks obvious is good quality additions on the OL. How do we stand with what we have coming back in 23 and how many do we need to come in with the 23 class? I see bama with a couple of middle 4-star OLs and wonder why UF can't do this. Surely, we have some top OLs in Florida who want to be Gators.
I really hope we are leaning on FSU’s two top rated OL who UF were in for, Simmons and Kearney. Just KEEEEP pushing for them. Word was Kearney didn’t like how we were recruiting him (word is “negative” recruiting) which is why he immediately committed to FSU following his OV to UF. Outside of them two, the kid we just offered the other day who’s in Arizona, and Lousiana’s Caden Jones, not much traction with OT’s and we dont even lead for those two. Def need to get some OT’s
