Decommited from Norte dame. Must be a smart kid so one would think UF could get in the mix. Have heard he’s all Bama now (talk about a swing in academics) but I wouldn’t put it past our staff to land him. We’ve got to be able to provide better NIL than the poor elephants.
If there is anything about what Napier has done versus our expectations, it is expect the unexpected. I won't count him out. Yes, Keeley likes Bama and they may be the "front runner" right now, whatever that means. But signing is a good ways away. He has expressed good things about Florida. He has been talking to Florida. And if academics mean anything or tilt the scale, Florida will be a player. And even if he does go to Bama, it opens up possibilities with other DL that may also be considering Bama. Heck , we have gone head to head with Bama throughout this process. We have won some battles so far. Just being in the final 2 or 3 with them and not backing down is a different strategy than what we have previously employed. Just staying in the ring has made a difference so far. One thing I am confident of is we will not go quietly into that good night with this kid or anyone else.
same as i see it. I know many of us still have some scar tissue from how the last two staffs used to get served on the trail and that will take some time to wash away, but make no mistake about it, from here on out we aren’t just letting any recruit be handed over to Bama and UGA anymore. Going to have to earn it if you want a kid from the state of Florida if UF (and even Miami) are interested.
Yes, there is a chance. Consensus is Bama leads. UF needs him to drag it out and get him on campus again.
Scar tissue? You mean, as in, after leather face got through making CHOP suey of those tourists after they stopped at the gas station in the Texas chainsaw massacre? That kind of scar tissue?
I found that in some previous years their similarly ranked recruits were not as athletic as ours, but this year, they are doing really well. I think their new head coach is a cut above Kelly for recruiting.
By the way to add something on topic to the thread, Russaw may be incredible and everybody wants him, but if one will not play with the other, you always have to go with the guy with the height and reach, which is Keeley by a bunch. Just like why we needed Kamran James on the other other end. Imagine a line with James (6'7", Keeley (6'6"), Watson (6'5") and Thomas(6'5"). No opponent has a legit passing game with a QB under 6'2".
