How do you get that from what I said? I recommended a maritime exclusion zone that would put them in the horns of a dilemma: they would either have to port their navy or risk becoming the aggressor. What they want is (I think) for us to conduct a disproportionate offensive attack on them (such as airstrikes) for the actions they’ve already taken. No, I don’t want to give them that.

They just want something else to attack him on....a few hundred dead soldiers means nothing in order to beat Trump in 2020.

It will take many decades for our country alone to be fully weened off of oil... I think the new batteries and super-capacitors (that don't even use Lithium) have promise in the transportation aspect of oil usage... And corn byproducts can be used as a substitute for some of those 6,000 or so products that use oil refining to make.

Not even close....but there is ZERO doubt that the democrats who are hawking now would flip immediately and politicize any war effort should an attack be ordered.

What Trump should do is return to the proper constitutional procedure for war and leave it to congress to make the declaration

Maybe it's time to go back to the future. Way back. Borrowing a tactic from the Second World War it may not be a bad idea to provide naval escorts, possibly multi-national, along with air cover for tankers transiting the Straight of Hormuz. So far Trump is acting like Teddy Roosevelt in reverse. Instead of speaking softly and carrying a big stick, Trump is being bellicose and doing nothing.

We will need far more nuclear power (maybe triple the number or more than what we now have) to compensate for the power that all these new batteries will be draining out of the power grid... So without oil right now we would grind to a halt.

You do realize that once you authorize naval escorts you are essentially authorizing attacks should anything happen. Things can escalate very quickly from there

You really believe that we should be using our military as shields for privately owned foreign vessels?

It's not going to happen overnight but I see a tipping point being reached probably in 20 years. Then ofcourse there is fusion which seems to always be 20 years away.

That’s a pretty gross thing to say. I don’t want a war under any circumstances.

Well, I don’t want war, either. But would you agree that there comes a point (not yet, but we are getting close) where your adversary doesn’t give you much of a choice?

A direct attack on US soil is about the only circumstances under which I would support a war.

My guess is the British will be making a move and we will support it. Things must be rough in Iran to create this crisis. It has to be to distract it's people from conditions at home.

Well, except for our embassies, I don’t think that’s an option for Iran. There are a lot of actions between that and what they’ve done so far that I don’t think we should tolerate without a response. What would you recommend if Iran attacked a U.S.-flagged vessel or our armed forces conducting lawful operations to ensure freedom of the seas?

There are more responses than “war” or “no war.”

What if Iran sank the USS Boxer and many of its 1,600 plus personnel went down with the vessel? Or they intentionally but unsuccessfully attacked several vessels in our Abraham Lincoln Strike Group? Would you support a response targeting military targets including Iran’s navy?

Shab you were probably on your long furlough from too hot when I openly admitted on too hot I was wrong about Iraq- but don’t let the truth get in your way of a cheap shot
