Too bad John McLaughlin is no longer with us. Not that I agreed with his politics, but he was a former Jesuit, the great educators, and he would have taken Junior to task for this statement

Didn't recognize the word but my online Dictionary suggests you might mean
    unmanly?
    a Milly?
    a mole?
    Emily?

Gotta love it when a guy whose success is almost entirely attributable to a fortunate accident of birth calls members of a profession noted for self-sacrifice losers.

? It was a bit tongue in cheek, so I'm curious about the vehemence of your reaction

I thought you'd get it without any emoji but I should have added "yelled in my best Dana Carvey as John McLaughlin voice" :D

Did he call all teachers “losers” or just teachers that are “trying to sell” or push socialism?

Sorry. My bad. It's been awhile. That was his trademark. I just always think of them is there are conservative Jesuit. It shocked my daughter to know such a thing existed

No worries, I should have emojied it since I did agree with you. Just always remember Carvey playing him, and besides, JM was an interesting cat; an anti-war Jesuit to attempted politician to pro-war republican speech writer for Nixon. I think one of the most fascinating things about poltiics is when someone switches to basically their polar opposite of whatever they believed before. JM was one of those (at least to an extent). In more recent times, David Mamet is similar.

That is exactly what he did...I was going to post the same on the day this thread started but knew it would only get a bunch of those stupid (come on man) responses.

There was no mention that "some, I'm sure are nice people". Just - "You don't have to be indoctrinated by these loser teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth."

Maybe he's saying all teachers are selling our kids that they need socialism from birth and they're all losers.

Maybe he's pandering to the base that are convinced public education is a liberal plot and education is a bad thing -

Maybe he's as big an idiot as daddy.

OK, but remove the adjective "loser".

"You don't have to be indoctrinated by these ----- teachers that are trying to sell you on socialism from birth."

The statement does not say you "don't have to be indoctrinated by" all teachers, just those trying to sell (you on) socialism.

So, split the population of teachers into 2 groups, those selling socialism (group A) and those not selling socialism (group B). The comment made by DTjr is silent as to whether or not anyone has to be indoctrinated by those (group B) teachers not selling socialism.

My senior year of high school back in the 80s we had to take PAD. Covered the Soviet system of government. Don’t think anyone was “indoctrinated.”

Please don't misinterpret my post. I didn't suggest anything about your feelings on teachers w autism - only your reference to the "those who can't, teach" mantra.

My wife is a teacher and I can promise you most are spewing socialism constantly. I'd guess 90% are voting Bernie.

I sense Jr. lacks the common story most of us have about a particularly impactful teacher that sparked your intellectual curiosity about some subject. Just a hunch
