After mass exodus of players...
Cincinnati basketball: UC parts ways with coach John Brannen
A complete collapse, yikes.
In before the "Cincy has Interest In White" posts start.
The team looks like it was all guards plus one forward & one center. Looking at advanced stats, I see one player who I'd probably give more minutes give & one less with another two being close but probably the right decision on minutes. Unable to satisfy them all, they revolted.
I wonder how much our administration has spoken with the players who have transferred en masse out of our program as to why they are transferring in such numbers?
Wasn't Moore once down to UF and Cincy? I guess that's changed, but interesting
Honestly I give MW a lot of grief, but 30 of the 76 P6 programs have 4 or more in the portal. Not sure how much exit interviews would tell us.
The senior level members of our UAA are well aware of the circumstances under which each player has transferred.
any tidbits to share on the player reasoning?
From what i recall, it's not like this year's transfers are transferring to contenders.
There was an article mentioning Locke wanted a more central role on offense including PG duties and Payne wanting a guarantee that he’d start. White wasn’t willing to commit to either of those requests.
Coach White was just ahead of his time. He had entire recruiting classes transferring before it was popular.
How many of them have been to more Elite 8s in the past 20 years as we have? The blue blood perennial conference contenders don’t suffer from that kind of attrition - nor do they need to rebuild their program every year from infusion of disgruntled athletes who if they don’t like what they see will simply transfer away from us also.
I truly hope White can create a new wheel and devise a new way of forging championships from a hodgepodge of players from assorted programs. It would be quite a feat. So far the strategy has been a complete disaster and the fuse on his fireworks (excuse the pun) is running very short I assure you!
