Whatever happened to the mad hatter. The grass eater?
Fired from Kansas as a result of his actions around several sexual assaults by players when he was at LSU. It is a big scandal in Louisiana (and Orgeron got caught up in it as well).
I don’t want fisher at lsu; we almost never beat him
Lumpy did it once. That's all, and it is highly annoying.
For a chance to win yes, that seems plausible. Cash would not be a factor. What are they going to do, give him 20 a year with a billion dollar buyout?
I don’t know, if I were Texas A&M that 95 million dollar buyout would keep me up at night with indigestion, especially being basically out of the Western Division this year race despite a victory over Alabama, and the fact that the losses were to Arkansas and Ms. St.
Perhaps the victory over Alabama assuage those misgivings, but I would view it as an opportunity to get out of a bad contract (negotiated by the present LSU AD) and move on.
I suppose it comes down to who the believe they could get for Jimbo level money.
I was merely responding to Nawlinsgator’s query on why would Jimbo leave A&M for LSU when he has 95 million dollar buy out? I’m not saying they would give him 20 million a year. Only that money would not be an issue when it comes to taking the LSU job. If Scott Woodward wants Jimbo he will take every step possible to make it happen.
Would he leave? I don’t know.
Is it feasible that he would? Certainly.
Talent is rich at LSU, no doubt. But Fisher has done damn well recruiting already at A&M. That won’t be a problem for him. If he gets a big fat raise in contract, that’s a different story. But I’m no so sure LSU can match A&M in that department.
Some big openings this year with USC and LSU. Good time to be an up and coming coach. Even if you don’t get one of those jobs, you’d be sitting pretty after the carousel stops.
If Jimbo was at FSU and doing well I could see him moving to LSU but not with him at aTm. It is a lateral move. The only thing I can see is if there are some entrenched program demons or traditions that are haunting his success there. Otherwise it is an SECw job. The same gauntlet to run through to get to the promised land.
Not sure how it’ll change with Texas and OU entering the league, but the biggest difference would be the cross-division rival at the respective schools. Florida is a lot tougher than SC.
Agreed. They could make the money the same where it would be a nonfactor but he may stand a better chance of winning.
I haven't spoken to Jimbo but I think he stays at A&M.
Freighter drop in hidden bayou from Peru or Columbia - S American Flour Power! 100 ton ought to do it. LSU Student population can "blow" through that bread in no time.
How has LSU managed to skirt so much controversy and avoid any repercussions from the NCAA? From their sleazy basketball coach's recruiting antics caught on wiretap, to the booster funneling money to players, to the mad hatter sexually harassing coeds. It's unbelievable.
But that's the issue here, why would he walk? He's starting something at A&M that he can't duplicate at LSU. A&M's facilities makes LSU's look like pre-1950s. Look them up, A&M has spent more on facilities than every SEC school has. They have deeper pockets than any SEC school. He has access to a deep recruiting mecca in Texas. And there's the looming NCAA sanctions on LSU due to their athletics department. A&M is the only school to beat Bama in a very long time. I see Jimbo saying thank you but no thank you. If LSU can become the 1st school to fire a coach within 2 years of winning a NC, that sets the bar very high. At A&M, they want to beat Bama and play for the SECCG. At LSU, they want NC.
I think there’s an element of will LSU be put on any probation for losing institutional control/mishandling of sexual assault allegations. What coach wants to deal with that right off the bat? This may be the time to move on from Mullen in order to get ahead of the game as it relates to LSU.
I just received Saban’s Thanksgiving invitation in the mail today, so I feel as if everything will be straightened out over the cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. I’ve heard that Butch’s contract stipulates that he must continue to serve as Saban’s valet until 2025.
Mullen to LSU!!!
