I remember a cold November day when UF could not block Art Still. Without checking I think it was their last victory over UF until last year.

I think many folks root for other teams when their team is not playing them. Many of us are fans of the SEC and the sport. I hate Duke and UNC in basketball but I sure as hell am not going to miss the games they play.

I must watch what I post, so I will leave it there.

Sorry just checking in. It is hard to fathom and I can’t believe I am typing it but I am a much bigger football fan then basketball fan, especially with Stoops. I loved the hire and the Citrus Bowl was a blast last year...Franklin take that you SOB!

I think UK will take a step back from last year, but they have a reason to. Losing two iconic players on top of some great defensive players. I do like how Stoops has tried to build a roster, but the SEC is just damn grueling!

Thanks for the post! I think all know that I cheer hard for UF basketball. There are too many great people here, and I have a lot of Gator buddies.

Since we're making confessions, is it bad to admit that I always cheer for Kentucky to lose in the NCAA tournament? lol

My Dad was a UK grad, I root for them when it doesn't impact UF negatively... can't say I like John C but he is a brilliant coach and a master manipulator of talented kids

Ive said my thoughts on UK a few times here

I think both UF and UK being good going into their matchups is good for the conference and each school. UF vs UK is the closest thing the SEC has to a marquee matchup like Duke vs. UNC. When both schools are good, that's when the conference is getting the most recognition which has major benefits for each school as well. As much as fans of both schools might not want to hear it, both schools benefit when both are at their best.

UF and UK benefits from exposure, pre-game hype and conference prestige. Which helps with seeding and recruiting. I think 2014 was a perfect example of how the matchup can benefit both teams. Florida showed itself as clearly the top seed of the tourney that year. But in the SEC final, Kentucky showed they had risen to the level they could play the #1 team in the nation to the final buzzer. In the end, I dont think losing those games hurt UK much at all and contributed greatly to both teams reaching the final 4. I think that matchup more than any other prepared both teams for what they would see in the NCAAs.

Could you imagine: what if Bear Bryant had stayed at UK? Lexington becomes “titletown”?!

Bama still may have been good, but not at the same level. I.e. saban ends up going to UK after coaching the Dolphins ....
Calipari and Saban together in Lexington ....the nexus of hell?!

Maybe that alternate universe scenario gets made into a Netflix original!
