The other predict the record thread was a nice success, let’s try another! To kick off the SEC slate.

Let’s see who predicts we get the SEC started off on the right foot!

January is packed full with 8 hoops games, 7 in Conference plus the one SEC / Big 12 Challenge game. 4 home, 4 on the road. Predict how the gators will fare.

    Games:
    1. USCe (126, 76.96),(129, 190, 77)
    2. At Arkansas (47, 82.07), (57, 71, 57)
    3. Tennessee (top 5 team?) (12, 89.25), (11, 6, 32) (can we pull the upset when *they* are highly rated for a change?!)
    4. At Mississippi State (28, 85.82), (20, 17, 46)
    5. At UGA (82, 78.76), (100, 140, 73)
    6. Texas A&M (104, 77.07), (97, 106, 95)
    7. At TCU (SEC/Big12 Challenge) (25, 86.73), (23, 32, 26)
    8. Ole Miss (46, 82.24), (47, 28, 96)
    (Sagarin composite) (Kenpom, O, D)
    UF is (26, 86.66), (17, 52,6) currently.

Rest depends on what Gator team shows up, the killer, or the clown.

If it’s The Godzilla beast mode team that dispatched butler, might pencil us in for the final4! :)

On the road at TCU might be pretty tough. Looking at Sagarin, it’s a toss up. ( of course, sagarin “predicted” a pick’em game vs butler, too!!!)
UGA on the road appears easier, right now, when looking at those predictive metrics.

I'm going 5-3. Tough to say what players we will have a month from now and what players we will face. Side note, if we beat Tenn at home then we go 7-1.

I went with 6-2 (losses to Tennessee and Miss. State). If we continue to play excellent defense and improve offensively, they will be able to conquer that tough stretch with a nice record. 8-0 would require us playing at an elite level on both sides of the ball and making our free throws.

14-6 heading into February would be good in my book.

  10. I thought I was a sunshine pumper but the consensus seems to be 6-2 losing to UT and Miss State. I’ll go with that.

There are a lot of happy gators running around after the big peach bowl win....and our annihilation of butler.

Lots of feel-good optimism surrounding gator sports, right now.

5-3 assuming the team that played 40 minutes against Butler shows up. That intensity could be hard to keep up but I get the impression December was no holiday so perhaps that conditioning will pay off.

5-3 appears to be the consensus right now heading into the January slate of games.

Sagarin would predict 2 losses: Tennessee at home and Mississippi State, on the road.

1 probable loss, on the road: @TCU.

    A 50/50 game @ Arkansas.

The rest are predicted wins. 3 at home, 1 on the road @UGA.

Good poll, I'd also be interested in a separate poll on how UF will do in the six critical games against higher-ranked SEC squads (home to UK and UT; @UK, UT, MSU, Aub).

Considering this is the easier part of our schedule, it's clear to me that a 9-9 SEC record will be a real accomplishment.
But I loved that late December Gator team I saw, however I don't want to get too optimistic.

6-2 now has taken the lead in the poll.

Boy, if we play like we did vs butler, part II, with tenacious D and the shots falling, we might just blaze right thru the SEC !
