can someone tell me about him?
Just saw this on Twitter. Who is Jamarrien Burt?
He's a guy who had offers from Coastal Carolina, Florida A&M and Florida Atlantic. He tried to publicly commit to Georgia and they turned him down.
I don't believe in rankings, but this is weird. We could have signed him last minute, IMO
I'll have to check with Ernie for some insight.
Never heard of this kid before I visited this board 5 minutes ago. Oh boy….
urt, who plays wide receiver and cornerback practically in UF's backyard just an hour south in Ocala, has been recruited to Florida by cornerbacks coach Jules Montinar, suggesting that he will be a defensive back at the next level. Florida has recruited Burt for over two years, as he initially earned an offer in April 2019 from linebackers coach Christian Robinson.
Burt has tallied 99 tackles, four interceptions and 17 defended passes dating back to his freshman season of high school. He's also caught 44 passes for 674 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Florida was able to beat out Georgia, Arkansas, Penn State, and other schools to land Burt's pledge. Burt unofficially visited Florida on June 22 and had previously participated in a UF recruiting camp on June 16, where Montinar could get a grasp of Burt's athletic abilities in person.
Burt is one of two cornerbacks currently committed to Florida in the class of 2022, joining Clear Lake (Texas) cornerback Julian Humphrey. Burt is the fourth prospect to commit to the Gators in the past week, joining linebacker Shemar James, wide receiver Chandler Smith, and kicker Trey Smack.

Who? This recruiting season is going to be fun!
Maybe he is really fast too and mullen wants to make sure the relay team is set.
MmmmK. Welcome aboard!
I wonder if he's really fast...
I'll keep my mouth shut.. bit let me say......
LSU has an $800,000 per year CB coach that has produced numerous first round draft choices and NFL players in his long P5 coaching career. UF has a $250,000 CB coach that is in his first year coaching at the P5 level and has produced 0 draft picks or NFL players. You get what you pay for in this world. Mercedes versus Nissan to kids in their evaluation and assessment process. Look at resumes objectively yourself and tell me where you would want your son to go.
My initial thought is that they could/should have waited on a kid like this to take his commitment, because ill admit i never watched his film and is rankings watching and offer list watching, and it isn’t as if premier schools are beating down the door to get him.
on the flip side, take him if you like him and if he doesn’t improve his senior year, just push him out like we did Montgomery, Rucker, and Strickland last cycle. Many people gonna point to a camp mvp like Trev Johnson last year but look at how out of sorts and unimpressive Trev looked a lot last year which gives me cause for pause. After sleeping on it, im ok with the take cause I know it’s a conditional take.
I thought Trev looked good w/ the PT he got last year? Definitely too soon to write him off.
That's a bit unfair to compare Corey Raymond , who by many accounts is probably the most highly regarded DB coach in all of CFB to a coach who was just a grad assistant at Bama in 2013. Started coaching the secondary at JMU 14-15. Dude is young in his career still but continues to move up. Was an assistant coach on Georgia's staff the season before last, was at USF last season and now UF. That means he has been on staff in some capacity at Bama, UGA, and UF. That's a hell of a start. Not to mention he has brought great energy and also currently has a commitment from 4* Humphreys out of Texas. Now we get to see how he coaches.
he was put of position a lot last season
But who wasn't?
to me, and i know it was a bit of tongue and cheek response, but i felt Dean played the most consistent in the secondary last year. I mean Elam did too after so hiccups early in the season, but Dean was pretty solid and consistent at safety when he got extended PT
