No doubt about Dexter and Brown but the rest is a reach at this point no?
Irrelevant in the grand scheme of things. We need DT's and sandwhiched between Gervon and Johnnie are 3 DT's we wanted but are slated to go elsewhere
Dexter and Brown are great gets but neither looks like a true nose tackle. We need a guy like Goods or Tim Smith badly. Only so many bigguns left - they don't grow on trees. Time for a full court press...
Brown, Dexter, Goods and Smith are my projected DT class.
247 DL rankings
I don't think Williams is. Smith, who knows? Carter would definitely be a reach, but what a monster and right in our prime recruiting territory. You have to dream.
Dexter is almost to 300 now and has room to grow, so I am not sure that a position on the DL does not fit him if he has the strength, which Savage should assure. I think Brown probably best projects to SDE. If he adds the weight right, we should be very pleased with him at that position.
Are you kidding? Irrelevant?
We need a couple who can set the edge. Cool
He's quick. I would love to see him become an Easley, Floyd, or Bryan inside who disrupts, as we didn't have that last year and probably will not this year either.
The rankings of the DT's are irrelevant. In fact, rankings kinda are irrelevant in general, it's just a great talking point for better or worse
It is nice to see that people who study players for their job have a high opinion of the players our coaches choose. However, your point is well taken with Ja'markis Weston who we got this past year. We kind of have to trust the coaches on their evaluation because he wasn't a camper and there is not a lot of film on him and nothing jumps out at you on his film as far as speed or great athleticism, but he has a great frame and at the very least can maul small defensive backs blocking, or he could be an incredible talent that is raw.
And this is why some people think that Mullen should have kept at least two coaches from the last coaching staff. Tennessee has one of them...
And lemme clarify. I dont want to say rankings are totally irrelevant but I mean can you REALLY differentiate the difference between the 18th ranked high school defensive tackle and the 23rd ranked DT? That's what i meant and should have said. The DT UGA got, Jalen Carter, this time last month was ranked 93rd in the nation but a month later he's 24th after only playing a SPRING game.
Dont forget Myles Murphy, Alex Lemon, and Bingley-Jones
I guess my thoughts on it are along the lines of "how would you feel about our DL situation if those fellows had committed to someone else?" That's why their committing to us seems relevant.
It's perplexing if we need DL as badly as I thought. 7 DL total. I feel like we need six DL and that it's an obvious opportunity.
UF is fine on DL
Got a Florida crystal ball
Yep looks like it could be us or Ole Miss.
