The biggest gaffe was picking Harris as his VP. People seem to be ignoring how much a factor her unpopularity was in Biden running again. She was the obvious heir apparent and I said as much after the Biden debate disaster. The DEI pick painted Biden into a corner. He knew she couldn’t defeat Trump.

The idea that he was some kind of drooling shell is ridiculous. But he was obviously in worse shape than most people realized. Protected by his staff, the press didn't push it hard enough. But I think most Democrats who were having doubts probably rationalized it the way many Republicans do now: Well, he's better than the other guy would have been.
But I do get back to the same question for the Republicans here (can't call them conservatives anymore) ... what would you have wanted or suggested to be done in 2022 or 23? Biden step down and Harris take over?

Trump’s are not anything like what Biden was exhibiting.

If you could be specific I could address them specifically.
    RE Trump.

In general Trump really isn’t much different than he was 8 years ago, he always has been bombastic and loose with details and specifics.

If it was that clear Biden should have resigned, that’s one reason we have a VP. (Same goes for RR in the later part of his second term FWIW).

Mind you I’ve run Alzheimer’s treatment trials for the last ten years so I see these people up close daily over the course of many years in some cases. So I have a bit of experience in the area.
