Smart move all around.
FCS so he can play immediately (4 yrs to play 4yrs) and a well respected academic school.
Hope he tears it up there in the field and in the classroom. A degree from Dartmouth will be quite the achievement.
Transferring to an ivy league school says pretty good things about Jake Allen and UF
Mac was a complete idiot for recruiting him? Anyone that said he transferred "because he wouldn't fit Mullen's system" ignored the reality that he wouldn't start at an FBS school?
That's 99% what I get from this.
Fun facts about Jake Allen:
Former Gator QB Eric Kresser was his QB coach in high school.
Tim Tebow is one of his idols, not only as a QB, but also as a Christian.
His favorite NFL QB is Tom Brady, and his favorite team is the New England Patriots.
Dartmouth head coach, Buddy Teevens, was an assistant on the Florida Gator coaching staff from 1999 to 2001.
Dartmouth assistant head coach and passing game coordinator, Sammy McCorkle, is a 1996 graduate of the University of Florida.
I am guessing that leaving UF was a hard decision for Jake Allen, but this may be the best for him and I hope he does well.
, this kid can spin as well as most.Bad fit for Jake , but he will thrive ..
He also gets to play for a HC with a UF connection. Buddy Teevens, who is a really good guy. Great decision by Jake!
Good luck to the Young Man.
He was a pretty good Pro-Style QB, but was not near either Trask or Franks when it came to on-field mobility.
Mac got him for depth at QB, just like he got pretty good players for depth everywhere. Some of them proved better than others.
This year, with him going, the Gators will be short at QB (only 3 scholarship players). Last year, there were 6 and 5 were injured. Hopefully the strength work and simpler OLine blocking patters will reduce this Death to QB situation.
I thought Mac got him because he was going to be the man. Didn't happen that way because Mac turned out not to be the man.
I think he's a pretty solid player that wasn't given much of a shot around here (you don't start at Aquinas and have the stats he did by being a schlob); but not going to lament his absence either.
Best of luck to him at Dartmouth--he'll get a great degree and hopefully do well in football too.
Great decision! Good luck Jake!
Not sure he was really UF-caliber in the first place but best of luck to him.
Wasnt mccorkle a DB?
And Jake said Jim harbaugh was the biggest ahole on the recruiting trail. Gotta love him for that.
Jake helped recruit a class he leaves behind
Good news is we have a new team to follow
Good luck Jake. Once a Gator...
Yes, he was a DB and special teams.
He was a punt blocker.
I hope he does great up there! The fact that he chose the Gators first and stuck with his commitment even through a coaching change makes me respect him even more.
Good luck Jake!
Better to get Ivy League education, as NFL not in his future as player
