There’s two sides. On one, if he works out and plays at a level we missed out on a player. On the other, if he does not play well at the next level, we get to believe our staff made a great decision after doing their due diligence. But I cannot hope he does poorly just because he moved on from UF. It’s not like he went Nole on us.
One thing I am guilty of is going by what’s on paper and what others say about a player. I do not watch much film.
Ever consider that he planned on talking with the family after his meeting with the Evers but did not get the chance because Monica (as has been rumored) contacted the family and they decomitted. Evers Decomitted on the 7th and Gibson on the 8th and then they both end up at Oklahoma.
Find it hard to believe that was a coincidence. Hard to get too worked up about either of these guys leaving. Might end up being great players, but nothing about them that screams you have to have them. Napier isn’t going to compromise his process for any individual player. Really doubt that the staff was somehow negligent because they hadn’t invested enough time on him when he decommitted on the 8th. Good luck to both of them, but really unconcerned about this.
There's two things that I value most in leaders: 1) establishing a plan and doing what they say they will do, and, 2) taking responsibility and making course corrections if things go sideways. I'm already convinced that Napier will satisfy at least the first criteria.
Their nil game is said to be elite. Would you play for half the money somewhere else. I love my Gators but I’ll take my paycheck wherever it’s best for me. Business decision.
This is a nothing burger you seem to be trying to turn into something. Napier obviously had a shot at this kid and preferred to wait on offering him. We can speculate on all the possible reasons why, but the only thing we know is that CBN told us all he was gonna move methodically and not rush offers and that’s exactly what he did here. Nothing more to say really
Ohio state has 3 of top 11 wrs this year. Nil to me is showing what I already knew. Cash makes top classes.
SMH. Top teams and great recruiters make top classes. How much did Napier pay Shemar James and Kamari Wilson?
I spoke to one guy who scouted talen for a D1 team. He was assigned certain guys they wanted. One thing that stuck with me - he watched every single play the recruit was in on. EVERY one. For a qb it was 100's of plays. Now I will take a guess that he is not the only one. Imagine as QB - probably analyzed/viewed 1000s of snaps. Was that being done at UF?
Did we have talent scouts? I suspect not. Do we think Napier will have that in place? I imagine he hired people to do that for us.
He probably brought some cash with him from his illicit ULL Swiss accounts. What's ULL going to do, ask for it back in writing?
Nil deal should be very likely already done, if not we are not doing it right and he would be an outlier. Top 100 should be signing for big cash no matter where they go.
