Daniels was never getting that job back from Slovis. Slovis is, hands down, the better player. Doesn't mean Daniels is a stiff. Slovis is just really damn good!

Doesn't matter, you can only play one at a time which is why Fields and Eason transferred. I'll bet dollars to doughnuts two of the guys mentioned above will transfer out.

    This.

I still like our chances this year with Kyle "Freaking" Trask, though!

Just hope the play calling is what we need it to be. Unpredictable and creative but also practical.

I don’t know about that. No guarantee of football being played in the state of California this year. I would assume that will be a significant part of his waiver request.

    Ok
Daniels is pretty good. Injured but when healthy pretty darn good. Better than 90 percent of all other D-1 quarterbacks.

Agree on Daniels... think Slovis was beating him out regardless of injury.

Regarding wanting Beck, remember that was before his dismal senior year. Probably a bit of belief that they dodged a bullet. Lots of guys get recruited hard only to see their stock drop and their recruitment cool off

Dude. Beck couldn’t complete 50% of his passes as a SENIOR. I don’t care what kind of talent you lose. If you are an elite high school quarterback you complete more than half your passes. I’m sure once Mullen saw that he was glad as hell he dodged that bullet and wouldn’t trade who he got.

I hear you both. All im saying is i'm not about to assume he's dog food already and better transfer. I'm not sold on any of them tbh

Well, to read this board I thought Newman was a JAG when his transfer was announced (having never seen him play). Lo and behold he is a first round pick in every single 2021 mock draft. So I'm open to objective Daniels analysis now.

Who do you trust for getting the optimal out of the QB position? If all things were equal in the offenses would you recruit 3 5 stars at the same time and let the cream rise regardless of risk of transfer or every year get a guy who buys into developing and will get 1 to 2 years of starting? At Georgia with an incredible OL every year it worked well even though their offense was very limited Fromm's freshman year, and then he left Georgia as one of the most underappreciated QB they ever had, so much so that they think Newman will be their savior. Last year I was not worried whether FL would have a decent QB whether it be Franks, Trask, or Jones. Georgia fans couldn't say the same about their team. If Fromm were out for any stretch of games, they were toast. The portal and NCAA leniency makes Georgia's approach much riskier now.

You think that Franks gets credit for the win over Kentucky??

IMO no way is the NCAA going to grant transfer waivers based on whether a state allows there to be athletes playing. If they did that, you are just asking to gut programs of their most talented players.

I imagine the ncaa would provide them with another year of eligibility. But that is the reasonable thing to do...

Also, USC being a private school could circumvent pretty much anything the state of California could do to shut down their football for the year. Their football players could do online courses and live and train in another state and play all of their games outside of California, just like the governor of Florida was offering to NFL teams. Daniels may not even be able to argue that his school was shut out of football, even if UCLA and Cal don't play this year.

Yawn . . . and then Georgia lost two games with the guy who sent those two 5-stars packing, just like we did, with our 2-star.

But if they end up keeping only one who we cannot or do not beat it’s enough. But I agree it’s not likely to be a team strength and often more a controversy until some transfer.

IMO our defense lost that game, not our QB
