The only involvement I can see is the US using the big bombs to destroy the nuclear facilities but even that I am opposed to. Israel launched the attack and they should have known, or probably did, that they could not finish it. I did not want us involved at all. I would prefer a surrender or negotiation that then allowed the dismantling. I guess that's not going to happen- that Iran is still strong enough and dangerous enough that their missile batteries are still lethal to Israel with no sign of capitulating? Who knows.

Also, I have the suspicion Israel is getting hammered by the missile attacks and Iran wants to keep inflicting revenge damage. MSM not telling us the truth about Iran's success with their counter attacks?

I really do hope it's just to force Iran to agree to a hard to swallow a deal.

Some of the confusion may be coming from the fact that a) enriching uranium to 90% U-235, ie weapons grade and b) being able to build a nuclear weapon are 2 totally separate actions.

The IAEA reported publicly in Feb 2025 that Iran had in its possession enough Uranium 60% (170-270 kG) to make 6-8 nuclear weapons. Further, it would take less than 2 weeks running their subterfuges 24/7 to create enough U-235 90% enriched to make those weapons.

However, you do not just take enriched Uranium and tape it to a missile and say "go". In fact, pretty sure I am right about this part, but the highly enriched uranium would actually be in gas form UF6, uranium hexafluoride. It was our running joke when we went over to the Y-12 part of the Oak Ridge National Lab "I love the smell of uranium hexafluoride in the morning". Anyway, you have to transform the gas back into metal, you need to cast it and machine it into weapons parts, creating a firing circuit, pack it with explosives, etc.....there is no proof that Iran has succeeded in performing a successful missile test yet.

So, they may have enriched uranium as I type, but it is unlikely that they would have a functioning nuclear weapon in 2 weeks. Now, maybe they only need dirty bombs to threaten Israels population centers, but even that would not have the same catastrophic effect of an actual fission event.

The Isrealis shared some Intel with the US that we supposedly did not have. From the WSJ:

WASHINGTON—Before launching its attack on Iran last week, Israel provided the U.S. with intelligence it deemed alarming: Tehran was conducting renewed research useful for a nuclear weapon, including on an explosive triggering system. But U.S. officials briefed by the Israelis weren’t convinced that the information pointed to a decision by Tehran to build a bomb, according to a senior intelligence official, another U.S. official and two congressional aides familiar with the discussions.

The gap between Israel’s assessment of Iran’s nuclear program and that of the U.S. helps explain why the two allies haven’t been aligned in recent days on dealing with Tehran. The intelligence Israel shared within the last month covered multiple lines of Iranian research into technology necessary for building a nuclear weapon, according to the U.S. officials. They described “a multi-point initiation system,” a technique used to detonate multiple simultaneous explosions that is used in nuclear bombs, the officials and aides said.

The Israelis also mentioned Iran’s work on neutron particles to generate a chain reaction—a critical part of nuclear fission—as well as on plastic explosives and on integration of fissile material in an explosive device, the U.S. officials said.

Well, how would we know? Our media is censored and if Israel were sustaining "minimal" damage, why would the US now need to, apparently, be involved? I hope the perceived state of emergency, assets barreling towards the ME is to have the effect of Iran more or less capitulating, but how would we know? If Israel were winning and it's only a matter of time before Iran is defeated, why not just let Israel do what they are doing rather than the US dragged in to finish the job for them? I would prefer Israel do it alone?

It's amazing to me that Israel is able to know exactly where these people are. Incredible.

Why? Was he still involved in the government? Afraid he would take over in a power vacuum?

Our media is censored? How do you figure that. Internet access is available in israel and people in country freely post status of things. Journalist from media around the world also have free access to Israel and post. And finally, US intelligence is able to see what is happening and does not agree with your conspiracy theory assessment. US is positioning assets for 2 reasons, to provide pressure on Iran and to provide more options should the US decide to take action. It would certainly be faster if the US assisted but Israel can do it alone if needed.

Not exactly. Years ago, Israel did not know that today(our time) Mahmoud would be driving in a car with his wife and two sons.

The USS Liberty was in international waters when Israel attacked it by land and sea. The goal was to kill the entire crew. American sailors in lifeboats were attacked (a war crime). Israeli plane markings were covered up so the attack could be blamed on Egypt. The US intercepted communications between an Israeli pilot and his war room controller (as mentioned in post #206 on this thread):

From the website ussliberty.org, which you can evaluate for reliability

Israeli pilot to IDF war room: This is an American ship. Do you still want us to attack?

IDF war room to Israeli pilot: Yes, follow orders.

Israeli pilot to IDF war room: But sir, it’s an American ship – I can see the flag!

IDF war room to Israeli pilot: Never mind; hit it.

Well, I certainly understand the difference. I still say, I would prefer to leave hostilities between Iran and Israel for the moment. If Iran wants us in it bad enough, they have our point of contact.
