Is it bad that I am still hanging on to the chance that we’ll get regime change?

I think it was opportunity blown. Purely guessing, but if the hostilities continued for another few weeks, there would be change. Ending it now allowed the regime to remain in place and the time to strengthen its power. We’ll see if I’m right, and clearly I hope I’m wrong.

Perhaps Trump not as smart as I hoped under the circumstances.
This appears to be the time to allow Israel the chance to push Iran leaders out.
    Damnit.

Totally agree there, but Trump was facing huge complaints from a segment of MAGA that helped push him into power. His punch and run, with no recourse from Iran, followed by a paper win, gave him a YUGE political win, which he can hang as a banner to quiet the political damage his Whiplash tariff policies are causing.

I don’t know that Israel was interested in doing much more. They’ve been putting out statements for a few days about how their military objectives are largely all accomplished and they expected to wind down offensive operations shortly.

The question is who would take over in a regime change. There is a decent chance you end up with the IRGC in charge and they end up being worse than the Mullahs.

I think the son of the Shah could come in solely as an interim leader and set up elections.

It has to be the people's decision. The son of the Shaw would be a lightning rod for the people to resist outside input.

The question is what the military will do if millions of people rally in the streets for democracy. You can't kill the 90 million who are for this. JMO, the military has been so weakened that they just might listen to the people rather than face a civil war.

Forcing regime change without a well thought out ‘what comes next’ framework that has already been agreed on by all stakeholders is playing Russian roulette with 5 bullets in the cylinder. It will almost inevitably lead to a worse outcome.

Many of the people of Iran were not around when the Shah was in power. The Shah did good things for the country but he was a dictator. I remember when I went to Iran we were given a list of things that were not allowed under any circumstances. A lot of them had to do with saying things against the Shah or doing something that would reflect negatively on him.

I think a lot of people are still around that remember his secret police. The only way I could see it possibly working is if he come out and said Iran should have a government like Britain with a figure head monarch with no real power.

Obama Distraught As Trump Bombs Cool Nuke Factory He Paid For

EDGARTOWN, MA — With the news that the U.S. military had carried out a successful bombing operation in Iran over the weekend, former President Barack Obama was reportedly distraught that President Donald Trump had bombed the cool nuke factory he had paid for.

After several days of speculation, Trump revealed that the U.S. had carried out air strikes to destroy several of Iran's key nuclear research sites, leaving Obama despondent that the facilities he had fronted the Iranians billions of dollars to build were now gone.

"All those years of money and hard work just blown to bits," Obama was overheard saying after hearing the news of the bombings. "It took a long time to build up those cool nuke factories with the huge pallets of stacked cash we gave them. I had high hopes for that nuclear program, but now Trump has undone all of my efforts. Welp, I guess we'll head back to the drawing board to help evil governments around the globe move closer to their horrifying goals. Somebody get me Soros on the line."
