It will be interesting to see what Durham investigation yields. We know for certain that one FBI agent likely broke the law when he actively altered evidence about Carter Page that was submitted as part of a warrant submitted to the FISA Court. We'll see if there were others violating the law.

It seems that the FISA warrants were messed up across the board and not just some conspiracy against Trump. Looks like FBI was playing loose with the rules across the board.

Of course this doesn't support the conspiracy agenda so it isn't get as much play on the right wing websites.

Justice Department audit finds widespread flaws in FBI surveillance applications

A Justice Department audit of the FBI’s use of secret surveillance warrants has found widespread problems with the law enforcement agency’s process for ensuring that facts are backing up the claims made to judges when seeking a warrant.

The finding of broader failings in the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act program came in a review launched by Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz after an earlier inquiry found numerous errors in applications to monitor former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page. In a bid to assess whether the faults in the Page’s surveillance process were an aberration or a chronic problem, Horowitz’s audit team zeroed in on 29 applications for surveillance of U.S. citizens or green-card holders over a five-year period.

Horowitz found an average of 20 errors in each of the applications.

The systemic failures in the FBI’s FISA process are sure to animate allies of President Donald Trump who have claimed that the surveillance tool was weaponized against the president’s campaign in 2016. But the findings also bolster arguments by critics of that claim who have suggested that errors in the Page application were likelier attributable to systemic sloppiness than sinister intentions.

For each of the 29 applications, Horowitz's team reviewed whether the “Woods procedures” for justifying an application were properly followed.

“We do not have confidence that the FBI has executed its Woods Procedures in compliance with FBI policy, or that the process is working as it was intended to help achieve the ‘scrupulously accurate’ standard for FISA applications,” Horowitz wrote in a “management advisory” addressed to FBI Director Chris Wray.

Is anyone else curious as to what has taken so long to issue the Durham report? Is it possible that the RNC is holding this back some way, but will spring it in late summer to influence the election? Inquiring minds want to know!

Agreed there were problems across the board with FISA warrants and Comey's time as FBI Director is not aging well.

The difference between that and the Page FISA application is that an FBI agent knowing altered evidence showing that Page was a CIA source and that they had a positive view of him to say that the CIA did not know who Page was. If we have FBI agents knowingly altering evidence for other FISA warrants, the FBI is in a whole heap of trouble!

Just guessing but he might be holding off charging anyone until he is ready to charge everyone. We just went through two years of the media analyzing every single thing the Mueller Team did. Durham might have decided that the best way to conduct his investigation was to keep it very quiet and out of the media spotlight.

Or he might not have anyone to charge other than a single FBI agent.

Another “Hammer’s about to drop” thread. I hope it’s as utterly speculative as all the other ones.

Other than the Horowitz IG Report, all the other hammer's are about to drop on both sides have failed to live up to their billing. I'm at the stage where I'll believe when it happens.

Worth noting that all of the abuses Horowitz reported took place under President Obama, yet like Teflon Biden it is rarely mentioned. Like Sgt. Shultz, "he knew nothing".

Actually the FBI has a history of not getting FISA right going back a while under multiple administrations.

The question I would like to hear Biden and Obama answer is if they were aware of the Steele Dossier and if so when they were they told about it and if they knew it was being used as the basis of a FISA warrant against a former Trump campaign member.

When Flynn gets exonerated later this week things are going to get very interesting.

I'm hoping that Durham is also looking into who leaked Flynn's name to the press after requesting that it be uncovered.

This is interesting. Herridge is a solid NatSec reporter who is now with ABC News after switching over from Fox.

Actually with CBS, not ABC. I used to trust CBS so maybe there is hope.

Wasn't it started after 9/11, so could only be Bush, Obama, and Trump. Were there problems under Bush? Since this predates Trump, who else is there?

That's like accusing politicians of acting like politicians.
