They replaced the turf after the concerts. It was 2 weeks old and the comment from SM was the field didn't appear to holding up well for being 2 weeks old.
Well, we don't have a QB controversy at this point. DJ has gotten some solid experience. Let's see what he can do with it.
If the field was substandard the SEC should get involved. Funny how no UT player was hurt that I know of.
He is past the threshold, but I wouldn’t be overly shocked if another ncaa rule was chunked in the recycling bin.
I don't think the medical redshirt has the same 4 game limitation. He already had missed 1 game, so he played in 4.5 games. Also missed some time last year due to injury and they could take that into account. That being said selfishly I would like to have him back but hopefully in a backup role to DJ, or as a stop gap if DJ leaves when coach is finally fired.
It was a freak injury and one that could easily have occurred at practice or even at Florida Field. Shane Matthews stated as much on his Monday podcast.
On Neyland Stadium turf, Shane Matthews on his Monday podcast around the 40:30 mark: "Well, I walked down there, that was the first place I went when I got to the stadium. It was a, I mean, it was cut so tight, it was a fast track. Now there it looked in good shape. There were a few creases from when they laid the sod but they weren't like deep holes or anything like that. It was in, I was surprised at how good a shape it was in. I know we had a couple guys slip and slide here and there but I don't know if that had anything to do with the root structure but umm I don't, I wouldn't, I wouldn't blame the turf. It's just a freak accident that happened to Graham." Scott Carter, agreed, stating he thought the turf looked beautiful.
Season ending injury last year that might have made a difference in going 6-6 last year and getting a bowl game.
I read where it wasn't serious, but who knows for sure. He didn't come back in the game, so my gut tells me he's out for UK, maybe back for UGA? Hope Webb is able to go for UK.
30% of the season is the threshold for a medical rs. He’s played in 5 games. Unless we play 10 more games, he’s past the threshold. https://www.2adays.com/blog/how-does-the-ncaa-medical-redshirt-work/
I’m curious about Andy Jean. According to participant chart on Gatorzone he has only played in the Mississippi State game this season. He had a catch or two last season then disappeared. I’m wondering if he has some type of injury that’s impeding his progress or is just being passed on the depth chart because of performance. He is listed as being named to the All SEC Academic team so grades shouldn’t be a problem. He was highly recruited out of Miami area if memory serves me correctly.
