The common complaint I read on here is "name someone who has improved under CMW".

    Year.....Reb....STL....Blk.....Pts
    1.......92.......11.......20......98
    2.......160.....25.........60,,,,,,222
    3......165.......32......67.......158
    4......203.......34......62........260

    Looks like improvement to me.

Last year he was at 5.3 ppg and 5.2 reb. in SEC play. This year in SEC play he was 8.1 ppg and 5.9 reb a game.

Very telling that we're using this as an example of "improvement".

Ok...how about the three freshman who went from high scool to playing big time games against top flight SEC teams at the D1 level? AN and KJ have made huge leaps lately...and Locke was before injuries slowed him a bit.

Per 40 minutes Hayes is actually a tick down from his sophomore year in scoring. His FT's are also very similar sophomore to senior. Somewhat misleading stats, he's been more up and down than anything with a slightly down junior year and a better senior year with a few more minutes per game than as a soph.

He's definitely playing much better than last year, and more of the load is on him now than when he was a soph. So he's definitely a more reliable player. But it's not like some huge transformation.

Nobody can fault the guy's defensive tenacity. He brings it, and he's been doing that for 3 years as a full time starter. He is basically like an eraser, like a safety in football, he erases other people's mistakes by giving help and often blocking shots that not many other players would block. He's not on our block shot all time list for nothing. His offense (mostly his ability to handle the ball cleanly with his hands) really hasn't changed much IMO. That is where the trade off clearly is.

White has a good eye for talent. Nobody has debated that. He's identified several 5* players very early.

Hopefully these guys all make a substantial leap from year 1 to year 2. Would be the first time White has had freshmen really make a large impact, so if we can get a sophomore leap combined with next year's class that could give us huge upside.

His hands are what they are. I'm not so sure you can teach that.

But still, has Nembhart and KeyontaeJ not improved as the year went on (if that is what others are saying)?!?!?! He even had a Locke come in, who wasn't known as a defender and received major contributions from. Things just haven't clicked for Ballard. Stokes is a liability at one end of the court. Bassett gives us solid minutes here and there, but he's definitely better than last year. I'm still hopeful for MikeO, I like his game and hope he sticks it through.

Without posting the total minutes played these stats are useless.

    For improvement:
We were triple digits In Pomeroy’s offense efficiency. Now, at 61.

Defense, slid a bit: but still 14th.

This board is too sensitive man.

I love the freshmen and their fight and competitiveness. Hoping they set the tone this offseason and that the incoming freshmen follow along (or even lead).

I just think it’s telling that the OP referenced a modest improvement to illustrate his point that improvement is even occurring. That’s NOT the kind of improvement that’s gonna get us anywhere.

Sorry but I think White is the right coach for us and I am very happy with what he is doing with the program.

Those year four stats are incomplete and don't even include the Auburn game (he currently sits at 276 pts, 215 rebounds, & 64 blocks). There's still one or more games to play too. Those are not merely moderate improvements.

Geez dude. Then dont buy them.
But Mike has made three straight tourneys and has developed this freshman group a great deal. Add next years great class and similar development means a possible top 10 team.

So again, Don't buy tickets. Better for those of us who want them when they are hard to come by next season when we win the SEC and roll in as a high seed.

And I showed you two freshman who just went for 20 in our biggest games of the season against tough opponents.

    That is real inprovement.

Andrew and KJ are head and shoulders better than the guys that played against FSU.

...and you may be right...But it also has a minority of guys (NOT aiming this at you) with no hoops IQ that come here and rant about things they are clueless about.

This current team has developed a great deal. This team blew huge leads...now it overcomes big deficits.
