Is he too slow? Can't pass defend? He just doesn't like UF? Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Has been a mystery to me too. Just seems UF has guys higher on the board...double legacy so you naturally pull for him

Double legacy! Was that his grandad that played LB in the seventies, then went on to play for the Lions? He's just a few years older than me. Who's the dad?

He's rated as 4 star recruit, the # 16 OLB in the country and the #199 recruit in the country on Rivals. He must be either too slow for LB in UF's system or he just doesn't want to come here. Are there any other reasons for Mullen & Co. to not be recruiting him hard? Is UF recruiting him hard but staying quiet about it? If anyone has any info on this please post it.

I have been saying this since last season. I worked with Jaylen his Jr year. He is every bit his Ht and Wt. He is also a high quality young man. He would be a great addition to the D.

I did not dig too much because he was a new client but he likes UF as his father played here. He was getting contact from the old staff but everything dropped off with the staff change. I haven't spoken to him since his jr season ended so I have no idea if Mullen has reached out to him.

He did say he wants to stay at LB. But I think he would get too big under Savage. as I said he is a solid 230-235 at 16 yrs old.

Brother played here too after transferring in from GT, although he didn't contribute much. Remember dad having a better NFL career with the Lions than he did at UF.
Just seems UF doesn't see him as a fit in the defense. or has guys they like better

Dad's name was James,...had a funny nickname, "head". I think he wore a size 8 helmet. Was a good guy in college,...he stuck around the NFL for 7-8 years I think. That's a decent pension guys.

James was really, really good. He was just stuck behind a first team All-SEC nose guard named Scott Hutchinson. Same class I believe.

    Update:
Jaylen received an offer back in late Jan. He is projecting as a DE in college. He has grown, 6'4" 247 lbs.
Coaches were at his practice yesterday.

Jaylen said he visited Clemson. I asked him if it was everything that has been reported. He said everything and more. Said the facilities were ridiculous.

James is Jaylens dad, who grew up in Tampa's College Hill.
    Walked on at UF.
James is the DC at Plant HS.
    Jaylen plays for Berkely.
Jaylen is not a lock for UF.
