I’m a GOP governor. Why didn’t Trump help my state with coronavirus testing?

He is going to pay a price for this politically, but I hope that more people are willing to speak out about how our president has handled this pandemic.

He won't pay much of a price because he can't run again. Maybe he can go for Senator, but he would need his group of suburban, anti-Trump supporters to even have a chance (although the Democrats would have to royally screw up for those folks to put a Republican in the Senate).

You know Trump sucks when whenever a crises comes up you think I really hope he does not make it too much worse.

The race for the Republican presidential nomination should be very interesting in 2024. Larry Hogan has indicated that he may be interesting in running. Not beyond the realm of possibility that there could be a real schism in the Republican Party between the Trumpers and the non-Trumpers in the 2024 election cycle.
Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan’s memoir could foreshadow 2024 presidential bid

He was on MTP last Sunday morning. Sounded like a sane person given what’s been going on!

Based on what? What could the Trumpers (they will still exist in 2024?) possibly run on in 2024? Racism? Anti-science? How is that working for Trump? I want to see how it works in 2024.

Some Trumpers who might decide to run in 2024
Sen. Tom Cotton’s Next Mission: Carrying Trump Banner After Trump
Again, U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton's name raised for president
Nikki Haley just made herself the GOP front-runner to succeed Trump
Of course if Trump loses in a landslide they may have second thoughts. Back when those articles were written, actually not that long ago although it seems like an eternity, Trump was favored over most potential Democratic nominees.

I say this as someone who leans right, hates Trump, was an R until Trump, is now a I, and lives in MD, I would vote for Larry Hogan in a heartbeat in an election for POTUS.

Even leftists like up here!! He is the man.

He's a very courageous leader. I hope he has a long career in politics.

Hogan was never on the ship, that's how he got elected in Maryland in the first place.

He's reached his ceiling unless he changes parties, or he wants to be a Bill Weld type figure.

God this is sad. The guy sucks, and is every bit as corrupt as Trump. But being not being as shockingly ignorant or racist as Trump is all it takes for ostensibly liberal people to fawn over a Republican these days.

To be fair, and I need to read more into that, but if true that doesn't make him near as corrupt as Trump.

How did I know this was going to be the Maryland governor before I even opened the thread?

But you are correct, he never went Full Trump. He represents the old school GOP and D’s here (I’m in Alexandria, so lots of Marylander interaction) have been successfully socialized to accept a mere demon in lieu of Beezlebub himself.

    Of course.
But he is considering a run in 2024, and he chose now for his most blistering attack on trump yet. He clearly thinks it will help him in the future, and that support is cracking.
As a comparison, despite his jabs at trump, he only supported an impeachment inquiry, not impeachment or removal. this was a very different feel.
