Yeah, that is just stupid. That could have just as easily been a chunk of sheet metal. PS. I had not seen it. Thanks for posting.
I thought at some point one of these extreme weather reporters got caught setting up the debris or faking the wind or something? JC is in the middle of the street and that branch just happens to come down the street right where he is faster than he can get out of the way? Maybe… maybe not.
Yes, it was him but this looked legit. Plenty of other debris was flying down the road including tree branches when he wasn’t standing out there.
Just spoke with my mom. My Uncle is okay in Ft Myers. But likely lost his place. Window got blown in by flying debris at the hotel he was sheltering at but will be safe in the end. It is going to be devastating down there. Prayers!
Not saying this does or doesn't impact things. Just that these storms have been sucking water out of west facing bays in Florida forever. It's a cyclone. If you get Easterly winds the water will flow out to the gulf and drain the bays. Westerly winds force water into the bays and rivers.
CNN has had a couple of instances of standing in ditches to make water look deeper, They did it here a mile or two from my house. The street had 18 inches of water...they stood in deeper water.
Yeah, I didn't really even mean to tweet the clip with the Climate stuff... just that the bay had been sucked out. I recall it happened a few years ago too.
Gotcha. It's a cool phenomena (tragedy notwithstanding)...It also doesn't suck ALL the water out like he said. It's just a drop in the shallow areas. The deeper parts and channels stay full.
Just about everyone I know along the I4 corridor is without power. 2 million so far in Florida apparently.
I briefly lost power earlier and my lights have flickered a bit, but I have it for now. *knocks on wood*
Downtown Ft Myers is screwed. Buddy just sent me pics and it’s completely under water. Barrier islands f’d up bigtime
