It sounds like the coaching staff will be meeting with each player in a post spring interview. Not sure when that will occur, but I suspect it will be pretty soon and leading to some players hitting the portal.

I expect it will be wild and crazy with programs all over the country, especially those with new coaches. Lots of players transferring out and a bunch transferring in. Will be intriguing to see how the Gators fare in all this.

From what I’ve observed from this staff: it’ll happen asap.

    Deadlines

Fall and winter sport student-athletes who are looking to transfer have to enter their name into the portal by May 1 of each year to be eligible for the upcoming season while the deadline for spring-sport student-athletes is July 1.

Solving the mystery that is the NCAA transfer portal.

  8. Before spring camp we had about 95 scholarship spots, so I expected a dozen transfers out and the maximum number of transfers in to get us close to 85. Throw in a couple walk-ons earning scholarships to make the numbers muddy.

Interesting that some transfer because of a coaching change or to find playing time, while others enter the portal to maximize their NIL value. Still others do well at lower division or team ball and wish to display their talents at a higher P5 level

Well, I can't even keep up with a 13-person hoops roster, so I don't know how some y'all do it with football. I guess let's hope that the ones who come are a little better than the ones who go.

If you aren't in the 2 deep after spring practice, you should probably start looking for greener pastures

I suspect there's a good number that would have great discomfort moving away from a familiar place and routine that could be +500 or more miles away from home and friends.

Just trying to get a picture of where we stand on incoming vs. outgoing transfers. From what I can gather, it looks like this right now:

    Outgoing transfers:

    Emory Jones - QB
    Carlos Del Rio - QB
    Khris Bogle - DE
    Jacob Copeland - WR
    Mohamoud Diabate - LB
    Kemore Gamble - TE
    Ty’Ron Hopper - LB
    Gerald Mincey - OT
    Lamar Goods - DT

    Incoming transfers:

    Jack Miller - QB
    Kamryn Waites - OT
    Montrell Johnson - RB
    Jalen Kimber - CB
    O’Cyrus Torrence - OL

So, that's nine out and five in, so far. Does that mean we have four more to replace, even before anyone else exits in this "Spring Portal Period?" I'm curious whether Napier's implication that we're going to do double-digit portal shopping/purchasing includes these numbers, or assumes ten more losses/gains above the four that we're already in the red.

I'm guessing grad transfers don't fall under this right? Truesdell didn't join the team last year until a week or so into fall camp

Gets muddy once you factor in walkons. More processing coming.

Agree. It does seem like walk-ons earning a scholarship spot will be just another way to fill the scholly, though... that is, unless Napier's five walk-on scholarship reference is really more about widening the NIL scope to cover them.

I think the +1's will become the new NIL winners. Some 4 star kid you want but you have a great class. So you bring him in with a healthy NIL deal that effectively negates a scholly. Consensus 5* will always get the money but NIL will be used to bypass roster caps.
