Transfers count against the initial counters limit...so adding Jordan Pouncey eats up a spot just as a high school kid would do. Most believe we can go to 28 or 29

Thanks... From what I understand, that doesn't include transfers from four year colleges. Is that accurate?

That answers it... What is UF's max number this year?

I see a lot saying 29, my math says 28. But there is some gray area. I've seen some suggest 30, but I think that would have to mean someone being a gray shirt, which I find unlikely.

Jordan Pouncey has committed. He's a transfer. Will he count on this year's scholarships or will he just count on the roster or something like that?

    APK,

Franks and Krull essentially open spots for Older Pouncey, and other transfers or grad transfers?

Not really, it's not about the 85 limit as much as the 25 initial counters per year. We will burn our open counters (28/29 imo) before we bump up to 85. So Krull is really just a loss to our roster

A program would constantly be on scholarship like probation with no way to catch up if they had a lot of transfers and early departures for the NFL. Don’t believe you should be that limited in ships when severely under 85 and not on probation. Think the NCAA needs to correct this at least for those that sign and do not qualify due to grades. Seems unfair to kids that come from poor backgrounds, as could limit schools recruiting them in the future.

A deep dive inside the NCAA's tweaked 25-man signing limit and how it could have drastic impacts on rosters

Thought this was a good article. Apparently kids that don’t qualify due to grades count against your 25 roster. Much more risky to recruit and sign HS academic non-qualifiers now, as you lose that space. The only way for a Spring enrollee to count backwards is if you undersigned in the previous class. If you only signed 23, you have 2 extra spots or 27 total for this year. If someone signed and does not qualify, you can’t get that spot back.

After the spring game, we usually see players decide to leave.

I’d like to see us recruit one more player than we think we have scholarships for each year to get closer to 85.

Are there 29 prospects of adequate ability and academic standing who will want to sign with the Gators?

Let’s say you are accurate and the number is 28. Does that mean between now and sometime next year we can add a combination of recruit signees and transfers up to 28?

And if so, when can we start adding players that count to next year’s count?

Be it 28,29, 30....that's the amount of high school signees, juco and transfers we can put on scholarship for next fall.
Then it starts all over again with a new 25 counters

My understanding is 29 is the # of initial counter UF has available. If they sign less than that I will be surprised.
