At this point, we have 20 commitments.
I’m guessing 26 ...27 if Wilson gets his papers in order. And room for 2 transfers.
Hopefully we get a few verbal commits after this big win 500 plus kids attended this game from a recruiting perspective and more watched on TV. State champs and state cred. 2 years in a row now that we have destroyed FSU. Any word about announcements this week or next?
UF can sign up to 28. Prevailing thought is 27 or 28.
Candy said the visa issues have been resolved so there’s that
Wilson was on campus for the game.
Anything that gets us closer to a better o line is music to my ears.
50. we need to sign 50.
Sign as many as possible that are quality prospects. Our number have been and continue to be too low. We need to get much closer to 85!!
There are massive advantages to oversigning, as Bama has done forever, because the kids who don't play due to depth, will enter the Transfer Portal. Thus, if you can get guys you want, sign the max each year.
It's kinda hard to believer 500 prospects were at the game, divided by 30 (say max possible each year), that's roughly 16 year worth of recruits.
That means attrition - one way or another - of 6-7.
With Franks' departure, that puts UF at around 74 scholarship football players. Then there's the 15 graduating seniors that puts the roster at 59 players. I don't know how many juniors are leaving, but there's always attrition. The rule of thumb is to count 10 players lost to attrition/early departure, I'll figure 9... That leaves 50 scholarship players.
2020 roster starts at 50:
Add 28 recruits and 5 transfers, this puts the roster at 83 going into next season. That's a good number, always want to have a couple spots to award to the top walk-ons.
5 transfers may be too many, we can always hope.
I haven’t kept up, but is Stewart Reese still a possibility as an OL transfer? And what kind of year has he had? Thanks in advance?
We cannot bring in that many....85 isn't the issue. It's the until counters limit that will prevent us going that high
Am i wrong in thinking transfers do not count toward the 25 limit per year...only the max 85 limit.
I don't know, with the portal Uf has been able to recruit the potential transfers.
It's also the only way to get the scholarship numbers above 80 this year.
What is that?
That's how I understand it.
Autocorrect....the INTIAL counters limit is what will drive the numbers in this class
