Here's the schedule and preseason top 25 rankings: Utah #4 Kentucky #23 S. Florida Tennessee #24 E. Washington Missouri LSU Georgia #3 Texas A&M #9 South Carolina Vanderbilt FSU
It's obvious we want to talk football and do some prognosticating. So, what games do we win? Who will be hard to beat? Who would be dangerous to overlook? How well does homefield serve as an advantage for the mighty Gators? Have fun fellas and Go Gators!!!
You forgot to lead off and pick @doctorg8r . . . My head says 8-4 with 9-3 over-achieving Year #1. My heart says I think it's very hard to guess right now since so much depends on how healthy the guys stay. It's also very hard to go in thinking we'll lose any particular game to anyone, ranked or not.
Football season goes by in a flash, so enjoy every game. Every SEC team is a battle...ranked or not. Plus FSU, good or not, should never be overlooked. Many people have said this rebuild could go 6-6 to 10-2. 8-4 seems right then. I will be grateful for every game but hate it when we lose.
That has to be a typo, right? Utah is not really preseason #4. And to answer the premise here, I just have no idea. Just like previous first years under new coaches, could be that we see a lot of potential (Spurrier, Meyer); it could be we see that it just isn’t going to work out (Zook).
W Utah #4 W Kentucky #23 W S. Florida W Tennessee #24 W E. Washington W Missouri L LSU W Georgia #3 L Texas A&M #9 W South Carolina W Vanderbilt X FSU (cancelled due to FSU exercising responsible covid precautions, an offensive lineman rode a greyhound bus the week before the game)
It would be awesome to set the tone with a W over Utah, get the UK monkey off our back. The first year of a new coach is hard to read. Anticipating some growing pains and the same time hoping to see signs for hope: discipline, sound fundamentals, good team chemistry, mental toughness, tenacity, a reduction in self inflicted stupid mistakes. Better than the so called experts think. I think we will surprise some people this year.
Who the heck knows, right? How can all of this team building and discipline not payoff? How can all of these new coaches not have a positive effect on the players? The brotherhood, accountability, dedication. I listened to Napier's presser yesterday. This was the first time I really felt super proud and positive. He was very confident and intentional in his delivery. Answered questions with a different feel. It didn't feel like coach-speak. It felt like he was being genuine-he wasn't talking at the press, he was communicating with them. As mentioned, depth is an issue. Health plays a hugely important role. But assuming AR is improved- there's a high probability that will be true. Assuming the defense is improved- sounds like it's really trending up. Between those positive changes and a shift in overall discipline, there's a few wins over last year right there. September can't come soon enough. Go Gators.
10-2 possibly if we beat Utah. Utah is not the fourth best team in the country. Probably wouldn’t be fourth in the sec. They are a good team though and somewhere around 10. If we lose to Utah, 8-4 would be looking pretty good. We should have beaten Lsu and A&M last go arounds so there’s no reason we can’t beat them this year.
The Gators can play with anyone!!! They are their own worst enemy! It's about executing, and most of the Florida coaches since Urban have been mediocre at best. Mullen improved the offense. His Achilles heel: should have fired some coaches and might still have a job. Of course, he was a horrible recruiter, so I'm glad he's gone.
8-4 / 9-3 …IF AR and V Miller stay healthy. Either of them go down it could be a long season. Losses to UGA, TAM, UT …with Utah being the toss up.
Totally agree, ET! Most of the season is about the quarterback and few injuries. May head says it's inconceivable to think we can stay injury free the entire season. We beat Utah, suddenly fall into the top 25, lose to Tennessee, fall out of the top 25, lose to LSU, GA, T A&M. 8-4 will be a decent first year. I think this team could have a better season, but they will have to function at a very high level.
This isn’t the same Tenn team we faced last year. The light really seemed to come on for them by week 7. That offense is capable of putting up some points. Being our first road game, it’s going to be a tough hurdle.
