Your right on. Interesting how a week ago some thought we were off. Getting out coached by Coach O 2 years in a row seems to be changing opinions. It’s interesting, LSU looked like they were coached up the entire week. They were coached up to stop AR running, coached up to pressure Emery and make him stay in the pocket, and they were coached up to dominate the line of Scrimmage with physicality and technique. Amazing what a good week of practice can do for a teen and two years in a row. Interesting that a poster the other day posted 33 and 11 has dance overall record to me when I was questioning things. I point more towards the 4-6 record his last 10 games. Short of beating Georgia and running the table seat should be very very very warm And that includes not acting like a bowl game doesn’t matter and winning it

Yes, if there's one thing Mac was known for it was recruiting.

Why are you cherry-picking time windows? His first three seasons were arguably the best from any coach not named Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer. Last 10 he's played Bama twice, Oklahoma, and he has 3 really bad losses, two of which to LSU, one to Kentucky. Things can get better if Richardson is the starter moving forward... and they can get much better if he cuts ties with Grantham at the latest after the season. People forget Mullen hired Geoff Collins and Manny Diaz before Todd Grantham. If we had either of those guys coaching the defense, we'd be much better off than we are right now.

People need to stop acting like the next prodigal coach is guaranteed to be hidden somewhere out there. There is a very reasonable possibility that no such coach exists. Mullen is good and he would be great if he weren't so damned stubborn. Give the dude some rope, there is still the possibility that all of the stars aline one year and his way works. Or, he gets gut-punched enough times where he changes. Either way, this team is not his ceiling.

You and I both and I bet all of those people now will not be giving us disagrees… If they and doesn’t pour something miraculous out Georgia beat us by quite a few. And by miraculous I mean actually getting in the defensive coordinator‘s ear and making sure he commits to stop the run with his many people as it takes. I don’t care if they beat us over the top. Georgia has three times to run a game at LSU has and we got run on all day

    To use a Colin Cowherd-ism...

You don't break up or divorce someone the second you realize they aren't perfect hoping that the perfect spouse is out there somewhere. You also don't change your loyalty to someone based on the fact that someone happens to be doing better at the moment. Single seasons are small sample sizes. Don't believe me? Ask Scott Frost and Nebraska.

Of course I'm lucky enough to have the perfect girlfriend but most people aren't so lucky. :D

But a transcendental QB maybe can.

Just ask Dabo pre-Watson and Coach O.

Hell, Jimbo is a good recruiter but Winston is what got him that title.

We get an elite QB and we cut ties with Grantham we're in that conversation.

Muschamp and Mac also had great years starting out, both played in the SEC championship game early on. Both began to trend down as well. I would be happy to hang with DM provided he rids himself of TG, and be gleeful if he replaces Hev as well but I'll believe it when I see it. An elite coach doesn't trend backwards, one would think DM's 4th year with his recruits should look a lot better but it's not. Poor recruiter and can't rid himself of buddies. 7 million is being wasted.

Yeah, I guess Mac missed on Trask and Pitts and the other starters. Mullins recruits are so much better. I get it.

Muschamp played in the SEC Championship game? When?

The OL is not the problem, recruiting could be better but the OL is as good as it's been in at least a decade.

The status of the this team can really be chalked up to two things:
    1. Missing on Emory
    2. Mullen hitching his wagon to Todd Grantham

This is a different team with AR-15 and say Geoff Collins as DC.

If great coaches never trend downwards, I guess it's time for LSU to fire Coach O and for Clemson to fire Dabo. Hell, this looks like the worst Alabama team in years. They're trending in the wrong direction, maybe Bama should fire Saban.

People forget that 4 years ago, people just wanted offense and fun football. Posts like this make me think that a lot of fans have this championship or bust mentality with regard to coaches with the expectation of immediate results, or else you're fired. And frankly, people with that sort of mentality don't deserve an elite coach.

How many players are that? Give me the composite rankings.

    Mac:
    2015: 21
    2016: 12
    2017: 11

    Mullen:
    2018: 14
    2019: 9
    2020: 9
    2021: 12

Did Mullen miss on Richardson? Grimes? Jefferson? Elam? Wright?

Mullen has had better recruiting classes than Mac. Mac just hit on a couple gems that Mullen took advantage of.

Mac's defensive classes were atrocious. Offense was the opposite but we did have some god awful Oline talent as well under him.
