The talent pool is certainly watered down no doubt but that still has nothing to do with the NBA having a strong presence in foreign markets. China alone brings in $150m/year in revenue for the NBA.

How does the NBA's popularity oversees have anything to do with players' getting ridiculous contracts from teams? Marketing shoes? sure but this is WAY out of bounds.

More league revenue equals higher salary cap. Higher salary cap equals larger contracts for players.

Amen, brother. Same reason I hated the Lakers too. Go Sixers!

Yep, Miami finally gets Butler and gets rid of Whiteside another plus.. and of course another first round pick which Riley doesn't seem to like anyway.

76ers look like the best of the east...for now.

Good for Al. Gets paid and is on a title contender. Best of all he saves his body a bit by playing the 4 instead of the 5.

The league generates a ton of revenue from overseas. The money has to go somewhere, why not into the pockets of the players who the face of the product. If anything, the Lebron's, Durant's, Curry's, Harden's etc of the league are underpaid considering the enormous buzz they garner not just in North America but in Asia, Africa and Europe.

I was more referring to the fact that Horford, 12 years in the league, on the downslope of his career commands that value.
Completely agree that the Curry/Harden/AD are deserving of max deals.

Yeah, he's earned a stellar reputation tho and that's helped keep his value high. Durable, hard-nosed, tough, excellent locker room guy who gets along with teammates, and can still hit the open J and grab boards. Meanwhile a guy like Boogie Cousins is struggling to get the mid-level exception due to injury plus not being the easiest guy to get along with.

Rumor has it that he tired of playing center in Boston. He's one of maybe a dozen players in NBA history to make the playoffs every year and be an all-star five times. He doesn't score a ton, but he's almost always involved in a lot of ways.

    Seattle area
...and they talk about getting a team back here in Seattle.

...which relates to the reason I can't pull for OKC due to the way their owners lied their way out of Seattle. I hope Billy will move on to another franchise sometime so I can pull for him again.
