Never underestimate the power of the southern-drawl good-ol-boy network in Tallahassee.

They love ‘em their geriatric coaches.

No doubt they want Eleven for 40 more years.

They will hire Meat who will make Eleven “coach emeritus” or some other bullshit like that, which will keep him around the program in some sort of capacity hoping they finally win a title in Omaha. Wouldn’t surprise me if a future Hole 3B or 1B coach mysteriously fails to make a future trip to Omaha and is replaced last minute by Eleven.

Calling it now. Watch it happen. Meat will be a puppet.

My only thought on this is that if the Admin wanted Meat to be the guy why not announce it waaaay before now. I am sure not knowing who the HC will be has put some hurt into their recruiting.

No source. Simple observations of the organisms that inhabit Tallahassee and their behaviors.

This is the biggest mistake ever but I could care less.

If they want to suicide their baseball program then go ahead.

When a head coaching job comes up in theory it would prudent to open it up to a nation wide search given the context of how big a job the FSU baseball program is.

If the decision is made not to do any form of search and in effect you letting your former coach dictate who the next hire is by just simply handing off to kin so to speak then good luck with that choice.

As a AD of any major program you don't let a former coach tell you what to do - I don't care how many wins he has or how long he has been your coach. That is just plain stupid and you are just asking for issues if the loses go up due to this type of change.

I would not be happy as a booster about a concept like this. If you do a search and it so happens his kin is best qualified after doing an excessive search then whatever.

I just don't see how this works out in the end given these type of unique dynamics.

As a UF fan I'm happy with this move. And the majority of FSU baseball contacts I know are not happy.....even those that actually like Meat to a certain extent. Those that like him were happy he stayed on under a new head coach, but none wanted him to land the job

I have heard FSU does not have much in the budget to pay a big name so Meat staying on may make sense.

From a UF fan side I love it! He has been doing the recruiting and 11 only there as a figure. So we have been beating up on the Seminoles he recruited! Keep the train going! and yes I fought every urge to say we will keep beating meat!!! :)

FSU’s AD is the president who himself is a good ol boy. Just like with his presidential search and that of TK Wetherell, there was really no search at all. Just a bunch of good ol boys glad-handing each other in the backroom.

Nepotism, cronyism, good-ol-boy politics is what FSU is all about.

So I answered,, winning 40 & post season every year?.. Insane I agree

Funniest part of these reaction is the 2 are about polar opposites when it comes to baseball philosophies, etc. Constantly clashed over the years on baseball stuff.

You know, on his first trip to the mound, when he gets there he should turn around to the stands (where “11” is sitting) tip his cap, and loudly say “Thanks Dad!”....

I posted days ago that Meat would be hired. This was a no brainer. Meat recruits well and gets big credit for bringing that freshman class along.

I think some will be surprised how well Meat will do. I’ll say it again, that freshman class is special
