    100% True, no, but....

DM was going to fire, but talked to SS and then changed his mind. TG was to give up a good bit of his control of this defense. We ran a lot of different stuff during the spring, WE have played much more aggressively on the corner. Safeties line up a few steps closer also, we dont safety blitz as much as we did.

As the season as worn on TG as reverted back to his days in previous years knowing he is gone no matter what with no contract extension. I am guessing that is why he is not gone now, just going to let his contract fully expire and send him packing. CROB will follow him wherever he goes

I heard the buyout was brought up when discussing whether to keep him or not, but not the deciding factor at all.

Give Dan a raise but can’t afford Grantham’s buyout, doesn’t make sense.

Now I could buy that after Dan got Grantham an extension and raise after Grantham flirted with the NFL they could have told him he was married to him.

This is clearly a false rumor. The only thing that makes legitimate sense for keeping Grantham on staff is because Dan and Todd are in love. Everything else, especially finances makes zero logical sense.

Boosters would have paid for his buyout last year. I think more than likely Dan had his eye on the NFL and didn’t want to hurt his friend feelings and once it was apparent he wasn’t leaving it was too late to make a move. It also explains his curious aloof attitude toward this year.

this same story came out last January and it was researched and found to be false info. If I can dig that up I’ll will post a link.

but like another poster already said…1.8 million would be the MAX owed to Todd if he was canned after last year. We paid Muschamo and Mac billions after we fired them. Okay, many more millions. Chump change to UF to get rid of Todd. If this story was in any way true I would’ve cut the check for Todd myself (you can thank me later).

Can you do math? I can.

How do you know you know? Your internet kittens are right? Oh, you believe don't you.

It's false. Money has nothing to do with Grantham still being here.

Probably somewhere in the middle. HC and AD probably discussed the pros and cons of firing TG, but between Covid season and the buyout they probably landed on rolling the dice on another season. Can't be that bad again, right?

Hedging got them to here and now it's wait until November so you don't eat the worst of both outcomes. Certainly would explain Mullen's demeanor since it's now 5 more games to cover for the bad call they hoped wouldn't bite them.

Mullen kept him because he knew firing Grantham, whenever it happens, buys him one more year. He knew this was a rebuilding year, so playing his card before he had to made no sense.

Why y’all fighting over nothing? None of us know what’s going on. I get that none of it looks good cuz we losing. Win and all is well. TG is good as gone. Embrace it.

Your last 2 sentences are correct. If Grantham were coming back they would have extended his contact by now.

He’s not coming back. We need Dan to be still focused and we need the players to still be bought in.

If this were remotely true, Mullen could have not insisted on an undeserved raise and that would have offset most of the cost of firing Grantham.

edit: have since read @BigIgator25 s post and while frustrating that scenario does make more sense.
