Your tax dollars at work. Sounds like California from his references to the Rose Bowl and Dodgers, so not really surprising. I would be livid if I was a kid with a deployed relative and heard that BS in my class though. Hope he gets fired, but not holding my breath.

Pretty unprofessional. And uninformed. As he was ranting about how ignorant military personnel are he makes it clear that his intelligence on the subject at hand is very lacking. I also find it unprofessional to use some of the language he was using. My Dr. does not use that type of language when I am in his office. My lawyer does not use that language when I am meeting with him. But because this guy is in class full of young impressionable kids it's ok to use crass language? For a laugh or to be considered cool?

I grew up near a military base. I knew very early I did want to go that route. It wasn't for me. But I also knew very early that I appreciate the men and women who do.

Has no business in a classroom. Using it for a pulpit - far from the purpose of education. I wonder if this was a sub or some scrub who got a job through alternative certification. Certainly knows nothing about learning / teaching.

Edit: Don’t mean to offend any who attain alternative cert. some will become excellent professionals. Teaching shortages, however, will produce results like this particular instance.

Meh. He doesn’t want hear what I think about the effectiveness, performance, or value of many high school teachers, either.

Seeing as how EVERY SINGLE OFFICER in the military MUST have a 4 year degree, this guy is full of shit. Most senior level officers have master's degrees as well. At the GO level, a lot have PhDs.

Almost EVERY senior NCO, in order to be competitive for promotion, will have at least a 4 year degree. When I commanded a battalion, my CSM, who is the senior enlisted Soldier in my battalion, had a master's degree and worked for NASA.

According to this asshole, we are all dumbasses who can't fight our way out of a paper bag. My guess is some Soldier will hear this jackass shooting off his mouth and kick his ass.

There are lots of brilliant people in the millitary—my friend works with a guy with 4 Ph.d’s—and then you have people who at first appearance would come across as mentally disabled. And every military person I know (including my best friend and my cousin) would say as much.

Now you see why the future of our country is desperately in trouble.
Any education the military provides is clearly better than this idiot.
    God help us all.

Some people are highly offended and have their feelings hurt by this, but then will turn around and defend all the vile stuff that comes out of the President's mouth. LOL.

Certain MOSes have even more stringent academic requirements: if you want to be a nuclear engineer on a navy ship or go into intelligence, even enlisted positions require 4 year degrees. In my class at NMITC, every single person had a 4 year degree already, most spoke at least one other language, and at least 1/3rd already had a master's degree.

There's a lot of jobs in the military.

The skill set to be a fighter pilot is completely different to being an MP or a flight mechanic.

Really, this guy is stereotyping infantry soldiers as being "dumb idiots"...but even there, the reality is that most infantry soldiers and Marines aren't stupid. Squad level tactics and maneuver warfare is very math based.

As an adde bonus: this guy is also a councilman in his town and a former mayor. Unsurprisingly, in California.

Supposedly, what triggered the rant is he saw a student wearing a Marine Corps sweater.

So, President Trump aside, do you think the comments here were offensive?

The teacher is being an idiot. His points are ignorant, disrespectful and unintelligent. That all said, it's very weird to me that the military is above reproach, but people feel comfortable crapping all over teachers. However, this guy definitely deserves to get crapped on.

I wouldn't have said those comments, nor do I agree with them.

But as part of making America great again, we're supposed to like people who tell it like it is with no filter and not be snowflakes and not be sensitive and outraged about words. Because, as I've learned from some of my fellow posters on here, "Words don't matter, actions do."

Great advice. Mind if I going copy/paste this post in the next Hillary Clinton thread that's made?

Apparently the military and police officers are above any and all reproach in America - if you criticize them, you're automatically anti-American.
