High School/College Sports NIL discussion thread

How is talking reality a big deal. Are that many still living in denial and think Saban has talked all those parents into their kids coming to Tuscaloosa all on his own.

 

Saban is now older than many of these kids grandparents

 

Every pro sport there is has a players union. I don’t know how they’re going to do it but I bet it is coming. Who it really helps is the 85th person on the roster.

It already is full blown. I’d think it can’t get any worse?

 

It most certainly can, and likely will.

 

How? We quit?

 

It’s not full blown yet. The court system continues to take away what little governing power the ncaa has/had. It’s going to continue getting worse. Something better may come from it, or the whole thing might collapse. Next domino will likely be the final ruling on transfers, then I’m guessing we’ll see some nationwide lawsuit similar to the dartmouth case challenging the employee status of the athletes. We’re a long ways off from seeing things get better, and in the mean time, it’s going to get worse.

 

None of that sounds any worse than what we have going on right now to me.

 

My definition of "worse" is the sudden change of policy by the NCAA into becoming: "Enforcer Dudes". As in putting UF and UT on probation or suspension or some stupid shyatt.

To roughly quote Shane Matthews yestereday about all this College Football insanity "I don't give a damn anymore".

The idiots in charge are in danger of killing the Golden Goose unless they rein in their GREED quotient.

 

Truer words were never written. Unfortunately I don't see a true academic leader that isn't so addicted to the TV cash cow that they could start taking steps to end the nonsensical direction we are heading. Maybe the Ivy's will take the lead now that one of their members is in it neck deep and they don't offer athletic scholarships anyway.....Stay tuned.

 

Will do. Having said that, I had certain reasons for liking College Ball (Literally every sport) over Professional.
I almost feel like the powers that be have chained me to the back of a tractor, pulling me kicking and screaming
through a mud and sh*t stockyard.

And all the while I am being pulled through that crap I feel like the driver of the tractor is saying:
"PAY-ME MORE" Weeeeee Isn't this fun! How u doing back there? While I am choking to death on the B-Sh*t.

 

Ivy has no bearing on the football we watch and never will. The courts will guides laws for all of us to abide by but their model of football is not what anyone cares to watch.

 

Our Collective needs to be auctioning donated, worn items from the games. They need to have the entire city and stadium, every transaction, the option to round up to the nearest dollar and given to the collective. They need to have badass merch.

"They"??? You mean "we" right? Surely you are part of the collective? Are you canvassing local businesses for the round up option?
Some of this stuff isn't as simple as many make it out to be.

 

The merc could definitely be better. I’m just here to buy it, they have to make it available. Things we can buy to help is a great place to start. It doesn’t seem to be pushed very hard but I’m in pcola.
