Jumpin' Johnson! - Florida Gators
nice, love the wingspan could be lethal on D
He should be able to grab a few rebounds!
Will Yeguete type....hard to throw over that wing span....he might time a few leaps to snatch a pass or two....imagine a few shellshocked opposing pg’s!
When you have great agility and surprisingly long arms, passers are frequently surprised when you tip or steal a pass. However, in the SEC, they will be well trained to expect his reach. Nonetheless, it will make it more difficult to get accurate passes to players who are open or moving.
He looks solid, but likely needs to add some weight in the legs. Otherwise, he appears physically ready to contribute as a True Frosh. From film I've seen, he's very agile and mobile, and a decent shooter as well as being a strong rebounder. Very good addition to go with Locke & Nembhard and Chase Johnson and Stokes. That's a complete team among the 5 Frosh.
Would be interesting to do a “sports science” study of him, gator style...
To do what, decrease his vertical? Think KD needs to add weight as he dominates the NBA finals 2 years in a row? Corey Brewer never put on weight. It's a common misconception that guys who are skinny need to put on weight. His 41.5 inch vertical is a blessing, adding weight to his legs would only decrease that number. It's often guys with the skinniest looking legs who have insane vertical leaps.
My legs are about as skinny as they come, and I can't even hop up on a curb.
Yep, I really like this 18 class. It just feels like we got a perfect back-court on paper. Pure PG. Top shooter. Hyper Athletic 3. It was missing a "big man", but when you consider Stokes and Johnson redshirts that does give it some theoretical balance.
That being said, I'm far more comfortable with "where we are at" in the back-court than in the front. Both this season and into the future. But of course if we see some guys getting healthy and making leaps year to year, then that confidence can change. Our depth is not the issue, it really just takes one guy to make that "next level" leap (or to recruit that type of talent) and it can change everything.
When I was at practice last year, it was very clear that he has a high basketball IQ and is very skilled, even as a Freshman. I expect him to get better throughout the season and be a big contributor for us.
Different Johnson....? K Johnson wasn’t here to practice last year....
You and your facts!
If he was, he really does have great leaping ability.
You are thinking of Chase Johnson, I agree that in practice, early in the season he looked like he could contribute as a frosh, I expect to see him on the floor from game one if he can stay healthy
Are you from the future?
We will find out soon enough
