I sure am glad Napier is still here, giving it a try because if they would've got rid of him halfway through last year, we would have a big mess on her hands right now. At least there's hope at this point.

That is a lot of question marks that I made, and it would take a perfect storm for it to all come together.

Just for fun - Would UF's men's basketball team have been predicted to win the SEC tourney and the National Championship in 24/25?

As I recall the "pundits" had them as the #7 ranked SEC team going into the season, and I don't recall ANYONE predicting them in the top 20 nationally.

Now I understand throwing this example at you has no basis as to what will happen in football this year, other than a statistical correlation as to odds-makers predictions.

And yet, UF DOES have a good % of first and second team starters returning, A potential Walter Clayton type at QB, some excellent position groups:
Offensive line, Running Backs and Linebackers, and a number of other position groups that could be quite good - Defensive Line, Receivers, Special Teams.

I think UF's secondary will be much better than people think if Devin Moore stays healthy and Cormani McClain shows his 5 star HS potential.

    Sure, it's a big stretch............

And then there is the coaching. They have to provide excellent play calling, put disciplined units on the field that minimize penalties, and for gods sake clean up the special team and game management blunders.

But this is also YEAR 4, if I am reading the tea leaves right, the first team talent is "there" and the team depth is pretty good.

Frankly, Napier needs to prove his worth this year, he's had 3 years to put his vision into place, and make a respectable run in year 4, regardless of schedule.

    It's time Wanne, it's time.

    BTW: ESPN Prediction:

SEC rank 12) Florida Gators ©SportsGrid
    ESPN W-L Prediction:
    6-6

    Regular Season Win Total: 7.5

    SEC Championship Odds: +1900

If true this puts Napier's job security in great jeopardy.
6-6 means 25 and 25 after 4 years. Lose the bowl and go under .500.
I doubt that record is survivable. His seat will be the hottest seat in College football even if he did survive it.

6-6 and Im not sure he finishes the year as coach...You cant keep selling a 500 record as good enough at UF. I seriously doubt we are going to have six losses.

So much to unpack in your post. I think we can all agree that if Napier is going to "outdo" himself, this is the season. FTR, I think we win 8-10 full season, because we should. If we cannot get rise to upper middle or better SEC this season then it's probably just not going to happen. I think if we go 7 or less full season Stricklin is forced to make a change, but still may not. There are other reasons besides win/loss that a school might keep a HC.

He needs eight wins just to keep the hot seat on very warm. Its going to be tough to do better than 8. Im not counting on Moore, hes good but he has never stayed on the field. He may be our best when healthy but im looking at the depth that we used last year. Johnson had some dog in him and we had the freshman tgat was highly rated and didnt play. Cormani looks exceptional in coverage, can he bring the total package. Corner and star is a big question mark to me, more as to who is playing there as i think we have options.
