Not a big surprise here. Best wishes to him!
I agree. Thanks for being a gator CJ!
Wish he was playing, but that’s a selfish wish, if his teammates are cool, go do your thing.
ewww I don't get not wanting to play in the Orange Bowl and also think his draft stock has dropped, however is their lives and he gets to go make money, good for him.
Sitting out the bowl is wrong.
Best of luck to a great Gator.....
I wish he would play in the Bowl, though....
I am always proud of players who decide to play the Bowl games.
Of course I am glad he is a Gator, and wish him well, but those who choose to play are, literally, giving it their all.
Played like a me-first player the entire year, not surprised he's sitting out.
I have thought all season long that CJ hasn’t played as good this year as he did last year.
But if he is that confident he would be a 1st or 2nd round pick... then go for it.
As I said, this year he has not been as impressive. I think he really has to prove a lot more for the pros to see.
CGJ needs to text him
Dante Fowler too. I will always love how hard he played in his last bowl game.
CJ is one of those guys who might go in the first or second round (though he'd go way higher if is heart was in it this year), so the decision makes some sense. Other guys though do the same thing and end up going in the 6th or seventh (or undrafted). When you see the stuff people tell them on every tweet it's not hard to see why. Every comment is "u fire bro go get paid." They don't have any real concept of how different college is from the NFL, talent-wise.
Agreed, but it's the new reality. Let's pay players and then they'll start sitting out once there's no chance to win a national title.
I'm no longer a fan of pro sports for the most part, and looks like that trend will continue with more of my support going to non-revenue generating sports where my University is still represented by actual student-athletes.
Best of luck to CJ in the NFL!
Not playing in a Bowl Game with your Teammates is Bush League
2020 NFL Seven-Round Mock Draft: Patriots, Raiders, Chargers take QBs on Day 2; Steelers start with RB
Just quick glance. I know it’s click bait and will chg 100 times but they have him 1st rd. Strangely only JZ(61) JG(66) and LaM P(175) listed. No Van, etc unless I missed him. Again, quick glance.
Count me as one who doesn't like his sitting out the bowl game. Rewards of playing in the game outweigh the risks. I support him leaving -- he is projected as a top 50 pick still I believe -- but unless you are hurt you should play in the bowl game in my humble opinion.
Love watching CJ play... a little controversial opinion, here...
I'm not sure he's a first round pick... to me he's about as good of a player as Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, but he's more of an outside corner, where Chauncey was/is more of a nickel...
CJ.. for every 3 great plays he made he got burned badly or whiffed on a tackle. 3:1 ratio like that won't get it done in the league, at least past a year or 3. He has 2/3 the skills of VH3 and where is he now? He's a 3-4 rounder and probably will make a squad, but a lockdown corner with 6-10 year lifespan in the NFL...nah.
Get a trusted financial adviser, save the money, stay away from the skanks, and expect to have another life after 26.
Man some of you are super reactionary. He doesn’t want to get hurt in the bowl game, its not unusual at all.
That being said he was underwhelming this year and should come back for his senior year.
Disagree 1000%. No problem with a potential 1st rounder sitting out.
My take on bowl games, if you aren't playing in the playoff, it should be about getting the young players ready.
The extra practices earned are for them, get them playing time and establish things to work on for next year.
