Explosives were probably built into a lamp, refrigerator, or some piece of furniture so it didn't look out of place, pretty ingenious if you ask me.

meeting with someone to directly discuss an issue and giving them the respect of an audience for their speech expressing their one sided view differs imo

Probably because I have read too many of Daniel Silva's novels rather than an Iranian member of the IRG my guess is that Mossad was able to infiltrate the IRG by using one of its agents who was born in Iran, understands the culture and speaks Farsi like a native Iranian. Not improbable considering that there are roughly 50,000 Israelis who were born in Iran. The agent if he actually exists was probably a mole who penetrated the IRG years ago.

He’s absolutely one of my top three favorite writers. I’ve read all of his books.

apparently he stayed in the same room when he visited...he never watched Blacklist...not sure what AI had to do with it.

Planted bomb, remote control and AI: How the Mossad killed Hamas' leader in Iran (msn.com)

The sources said Israeli intelligence learned which facility — and which exact room — Haniyeh stayed in during his visits to Tehran.

    • The bomb was planted in the room in advance, the sources said.
    • They added that the bomb was a high-tech device that used artificial intelligence.
    • It was detonated remotely by Mossad operatives who were on Iranian soil after receiving intelligence that Haniyeh was indeed in the room.

Nope. The Hamas one was a bomb planted a few months ago in the Iranian living quarters of a multi-story building. The bomb was set off remotely when it was known that the Hamas guy was inside his unit. The damage to the unit is visible, but it is covered with a tarp.

If Twitter is right, tonight is going to be a very dark night on the MiddleEast. Iran and it’s proxies mass bombing Israel, and the vice-versa. I’m hoping it’s all talk …

Seeing several sources saying it's being reported on Iranian State TV "in coming hours, the world will witness extraordinary scenes and very important developments." That may be bluster.. probably is bluster. We'll see what happens.

Yep. But it’s coming from both sides. Israel apparently has already taken out several launch sites in Lebanon and Syria

    https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveb...-plant-explosives-that-killed-haniyeh-report/

    This is fantastic.

The Mossad enlisted Iranian security agents to plant explosives in the Tehran guesthouse where Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh was staying, according to a report in the Telegraph.

The report says the initial plan called for assassinating Haniyeh when visited Tehran in May to attend the funeral of president Ebrahim Raisi, but two Iranian officials tell the newspaper the operation was called off due to the large number of people in the building and seeming high possibility of failure.

The British daily says the agents nevertheless went ahead and planted explosives in three rooms at the compound, and later left Iran. They reportedly detonated the bombs from abroad.

“They are now certain that Mossad hired agents from the Ansar al-Mahdi security unit,” an official in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps tells the newspaper, referring to a unit tasked with protecting senior officials. Another IRGC official says: “It is a humiliation for Iran and a huge security breach.”

It appears Iran is holding back. Playing devil's advocate, I don't see how it's helpful to telegraph a response, especially after Mossad clearly just worked their security detail silly. Probably best to try some misdirection. A thousand rockets fired at Israel is a waste if they all get shot down. Perhaps somebody in Iran's circle of trust pointed this out to the Ayatollah.
