https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-ea...tary-chief-in-july-airstrike-58535a27?mod=mhp TEL AVIV—Israel has determined that it killed top Hamas military commander Mohammed Deif in a July airstrike, the country’s military said Thursday, eliminating a planner of the Oct. 7 attacks and a militant it had tried to kill for decades. Deif is the most senior military leader of the U.S.-designated terrorist group whom Israel says it has killed in more than nine months of fighting in the Gaza Strip and the third high-ranking enemy of the country to be declared dead in 48 hours. Israel said Tuesday it had killed Fuad Shukr, a top commander with the Lebanese militia Hezbollah, in an airstrike in Beirut, and Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh was killed in a mysterious strike just hours later in Tehran, an attack Iran blamed on Israel.
Almost certainly a face saving announcement. The ordinance used by the Israeli's was almost certainly a Rampage Missile fired from an F-35I Aldir. The Air Launch Ballistic Missile (ALBM) is a precision guided (note - can link to the F-35I communications array even at distance) that is capable of avoiding/thwarting anti access and aerial denial electronic defense systems. There is no way Iran wants the world to know that Israel can strike them at will, wherever in the country without ever exposing their pilots and there is NOTHING their air defense systems can do to protect them.
But if you know this, and I assume it is common knowledge by the people who know across the World, doesn’t the “world” already know? I’m not asking to be a smartass,I am not understanding what Iran has to gain by spreading a falsehood (assuming Iran spread the information about the killing coming from a nearby structure)
Not buying that they knew which unit he would be in over two months ago Hamas Leader Was Killed in Tehran by a Bomb in His Room (msn.com) The assailants who pulled off the mysterious killing of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh this week in Tehran did so by getting a bomb into his heavily guarded room at an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps guesthouse, people familiar with the circumstances said. The use of a bomb to carry out the killing shows a significant intelligence and operational capability within Iran’s borders and represents a major failure of Iranian security to protect a diplomatic guest. Haniyeh was in Tehran to attend the inauguration of the country’s new president. The planners somehow penetrated an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps facility, learned which room was Haniyeh’s and were able to confirm he was there in order to detonate the bomb. “They were able to kill him from a relatively close distance,” said Mark Dubowitz, chief executive of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington-based think tank. “That’s got to show Khamenei the extent to which Mossad has deeply penetrated their system.” Photos of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps guesthouse where Haniyeh was staying show little damage to the exterior walls or the structure, indicating the attack involved a small, controlled explosion that detonated within his room, said independent intelligence analyst Ronen Solomon, who specializes in Israeli operations inside Iran.
It’s being reported in The Times, too. Bomb Smuggled Into Tehran Guesthouse Months Ago Killed Hamas Leader
She couldn’t do both? The optics of not attending the speech aren’t great no matter how you slice it.
An "unforced error" indicates she didn't put much thought into it. I call BS on that. You don't snub the PM of Israel speaking to Congress unless you're sending a message, especially as the sitting VP and nominee in waiting.
She's woke. As a leader, you attend everything, even events you don't agree with. You represent the country, not yourself.
I know I posted the CNN link, but I tend to agree placing a bomb two months in advance inside the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp’s guest house seems less probable than probable. This article states that “Placing the bomb would likely have required some kind of human asset, Solomon said.” and “It’s either treachery in the circle of Haniyeh or in the Iranians,” he said. The authors of the article also cite sources that it was detonated by someone nearby. Who knows how Mossad pulled it off, but I’m guessing some former member of the IRG is sitting on a beach in Israel (or wherever) with a much healthier bank account. Since even US intelligence officials state Israel was ultimately behind this, I can only guess how they pulled it off with help from someone who had access to such a secure location. Would be a great spy movie. https://www.wsj.com/world/middle-ea...5ct6ikyj4mqtgpe&reflink=article_copyURL_share
I guess if he used the same room every time. Or maybe they planted explosive sin multiple rooms? Or maybe it was an IRG rogue action to incite war. Unless he used the same villa previously or rooms were assigned well in advance, this would seem improbable. Maybe it was his villa or rooms were assigned well in advance...
