Losing to a great offense happens, but show something.
Some adjustments...anything. This was just terrible. Tackling in the trenches is terrible. Marco has forgotten how to tackle. Our DB's are digressing.

I feel he has his days where he calls brilliant games. Last week was one of those, but I feel like he really has teams that lack important fundamental basics.

Perhaps a poor teacher? Perhaps a mediocre practice coach?

Wasn't this part of what they hated at Georgia?

Yes it was. He has a good D scheme, but when it doesn't work, he doesn't have anything else in the toolbox.

Friend of mine that is a leg humper told me this hire would lose its shine fairly quickly.
    He wasn't wrong

My thing is that once Grantham saw that Burrow had plenty of time and was picking us apart I think we should have blitzed more... I mean if LSU was gonna score anyway we might as well take some risks

No idea what the issue was. Reese and Miller covering WRs, while Burney is in the box. Giving WRs 10 yards cushion with 2 NFL corners... all season not even just tonight. The play calls were fine, you gotta mix it up against a team that can run or pass, but I really would've enjoyed seeing some cover 1 press with Reese or Miller (whomever was opposite) Burney being the middle zone and spying the QB. Maybe play inside coverage all game and force long throws down the sidelines. At the very least we needed to be on the front foot and instead, from the first play we were leaning backwards. But again that has seemed to be all season so I'm not sure what the coaches know that I don't (assuming they have a reason other than this is what we do).

I agree. At first glance of the game, kind of seems like he went to Kentucky’s defense when Trask came in. Didn’t see a whole lot of blitzing or stunts. But honestly the thing I couldn’t get past was that LT holding. Literally less plays of him not holding than plays of him holding. Probably should have had at least one strip sack but instead they converted a 3rd down if I recall. But I do agree. Very vanilla D play. Looked like people jogging too. Wasn’t impressed

Geez people... We lost to probably the best offense in the country. They can do it all and they have a stud at QB. We got beat straight up. We played off all day to keep the passing game in front. Late we played tight and Chase burns us on a rub rout. We drop 7 into coverage and they gash us in the run game. We got pressure and Burrow scrambles.

They are a damn good offense. Tip of the hat. Maybe we get another crack at them in Atlanta. Lets not start bashing Grantham because we lost and got beat by a juggernaut of an offense.

Defensive scheme works best when the front 4 get pressure. 2 of those 4 are out and there is no depth to compensate.

It became much harder to scheme blitz packages when we lost BOTH of our edge rushers. .
Losing both Greenard and Zuniga gave "Beavis " much more room to scramble.

LSU knew that...and was able to capitalize on it.

No Greenard or Zuniga, however tonight Grantham showed nothing.

Shake it off and get back at it. The Cocks will be amped next week.

Also, we don't crap the bed twice on goal to go and we go to OT or win. Thats not on Grantham.

They had 218 yards and 3 TDs on the ground.

Their starting RB averaged over 10 yards per carry.

Their back-up RB averaged over 7 yards per carry.

You can talk about bringing more pressure or playing tighter man all night, but if you can't stop the run you can't stop anything. And we couldn't stop the run.

Was not a well thought out game plan on our part. When they missed the FG I seriously thought we'd smash them. Missing Zu and Greenard really stung. All the edge guys we recruited should have been used big time. Way too vanilla the entire game.

IT'S ONE GAME, DUDE! He's one of the best DCs in the country. That hasn't changed because we got beaten by a better team in one of the most difficult places to play in the country. Geez, and people call ME negative because I complain about recruiting......

It's hard to get pressure on a QB when both your starting defensive ends are on the sidelines.

It is HOW we lost. We dominated time of possession and had 4 or 5 drives of over 75 yards. Our offense kept their offense off of the field and kept our D rested. LSU only had the ball 21 minutes. I don't care how good their offense is, a Florida defense should never give up 42 points in 21 minutes. Think about that.

Lets not forget how poorly LSU has run the ball this year.

Losing 35-28 in a game that both teams had equal TOP, I can live with it. But 42 points in 21 minutes?
