A South Dakota tribe has banned Republican Gov. Kristi Noem from the Pine Ridge Reservation after she spoke this week about wanting to send razor wire and security personnel to Texas to help deter immigration at the U.S.-Mexico border and also said cartels are infiltrating the state’s reservations.

“Due to the safety of the Oyate, effective immediately, you are hereby Banished from the homelands of the Oglala Sioux Tribe!” Tribe President Frank Star Comes Out said in a Friday statement addressed to Noem. “Oyate” is a word for people or nation.

Star Comes Out accused Noem of trying to use the border issue to help get former U.S. President Donald Trump re-elected and boost her chances of becoming his running mate.

Caravans of Canadian snowbacks have become a problem.

 

I remember when he was speaking at a MAGA rally in Duluth, MN Trump warned about the danger of illegal immigrants crossing the Southern border. The site of his speech was around 150 miles from the Canadian border and over 1,500 miles from the Mexican border. I would also note that unlike the Southern border most of the Northern border from Minnesota to the Pacific is almost completely unsecured and I have actual experience crossing the Northern border having paddled a canoe from the Canadian side of the border to the US. What a wonderful area. Enjoyed it immensely even though I never did catch any Pike - heard wolves and saw bears. I was traveling with a friend who had a prosthetic leg though and I had to portage everything myself - that got to be a bit much before we even got to Canada.

Never caught any pike either. Did catch some smallmouth bass though. I went with my son. We flew by float plane into Canada where we picked up our canoe. Great experience we camped on some islands in which there no other people.

 

Probably a positive for Gov. Roem among the MAGATs. Could enhance her chance of being selected as the Donald's running mate.

There’s a bill out there that would significantly address immigration but MAGA republicans are abandoning because it might make Biden look good.

Do you actually want to do something about it, or just bitch about it? Appears to me Noem and MAGA just want to bitch about it. These people are unserious.

Besides why does SD even need to worry about this? It’s mostly wheat and corn fields. Their population is less than Duval county.

 

Given a choice of South Dakota or going back to Mexico, most immigrants would pick Mexico.
