To all Gators please send up some Prayers for Coach Mark Richt as he starts a new Parkinson’s drug/treatment. Former college football coach ‘asking for your prayers’ as Parkinson’s treatment begins
He got his last word in on the ACC Network live of TV about how he feels about us, before we played the Seminoles in November of 2022... to beat the Gators. Yeah, he's a Miami hurricane QB, Gator hating coach. But he still deserves respect. He will be missed.
I have to believe the kind words from rival fans mean a lotto Coach Richt and his Family. Gator Nation is Good People.
Parkinson’s to each individual is different. As I get older I know people that have aggressive forms of it and at younger age than myself. The amount of pills you have to take daily, if it is hitting you hard, is hard to fathom. My prayers to Mark as he starts getting treatment and to his family who will be in this journey with him. I wish him a complete recovery and strength of faith to his family, as he goes through this!
Prayers to him and his family. May GOD grant his doctors knowledge in guiding him through this battle and give him and his family strength and comfort. GODSPEED Coach Richt.
I had the pleasure of spending some time with Mark and his family at some outings/events a few years back. Very good people! They do a lot to help others that doesn’t get publicized much. Rivalry football will make you do and say things that you normally wouldn’t. All of that should be set aside. As someone said above, Parkinson’s is a little different for everyone. A good friend of mine just lost his dad to Parkinson’s, the late stages are not good at all. Hope and pray this treatment works for Mark and he’s able to have a comfortable quality of life with his family.
Wishing coach the best. When it comes to UGA coachs, he easily commands the most respect from me. I regret he is afflicted by such a terrible disease.
The Parkinsons really has hit him hard. His house is right down the street from my office, so I see him and his wife out with some regularity going for walks and things like that. His ability to get around and just the way it's effected his mannerisms is hard to see.
Have you noticed these 80s college QBs and the health problems? Marino, Flutie, Jim Kelley all had kids with disabilities. Richt is still young. I’m not sure what the average age is for this disease, but, what were these guy’s taking?
in 2018 a medical study display a connection of Parkinson's and brain injuries from contact sports. Richt played youth league, high school, and college football. It is possible that he had ten years of head knocking. Please note that the helmets before 2000 were nothing like we have today. I have lived in the Atlanta area since 1991 and I got to see and hear a lot about Mark Richt during his coaching years at UGA. Most of the stories were from the local media, but some were from some of my UGA connections. All of the stories about him being a good Christian person are true. Prayers for him and his family.
