Always a spot of love for the wayward sinner, prostitutes, and thieves. Seems like the right place for him.

His answer was probably something along the lines of...you reap what you sow.

Or, we were punished because we serve Pepsi at home games.

God walks the walk with you no matter what your challenge is, sometimes we get selfish and expect more than what we are getting or think we deserve more than what we are getting, but what we don't see at that moment is how things are taking place to help us grow. Sometimes we have to lose some of our worldly cravings in order to truly grow spiritually.

    Go GATORS!

I'm not a believer, but if your religion, if your faith gives you peace and hope, if it makes you feel more comfortable on this planet and in this life .... and especially if it makes you treat your fellow man better ... then more power to you.

That's the key to Christianity... err... Spirituality. Being a better person that treats all people kindly.

I think people get all hung up on "religion."
    I'm not a "religious" person.
But I want to KNOW if there is a God.
I want to KNOW if Jesus is the Christ.
I want to KNOW He loves me.
I want to KNOW we are in communion.
Humbly, very humbly, I tell you, I know.
Lord, have mercy on me, a sinner.
    And He does.
    He made me.
    He loves me.
He loves ALL of His children.

The emphasis on the loving, forgiving, redeeming nature of God in Mule's post is appreciated. Too often on this forum we read posts from people who vicariously lash the reader with threats of an angry, punishing God, who - according to some Calvinists - "hates some people." Posts of this sort do not attract people to Christ as they reek of hypocrisy and judgementalism.

@g8orbill posted a link to a worthy article speaking to the friendships and associations Jesus had with sinners. Some of whom were the pariahs of that era and place. Abortionists and homosexuals are our pariahs in this day and place, and other than the condemnation, threats and curses heaped against these people by some declared Christians, we rarely hear or read of genuine friendships between these people and Christians. Dan Cathy, the COO of Chick-Fil-A is a notable exception. After the boycott against his restaurants a few years back, he reached out to Shane Windmeyer, one of the organizers of that event and the 2 men found friendship. Windmeyer wrote of their remarkable friendship. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/shane-l-windmeyer/dan-cathy-chick-fil-a_b_2564379.html

Christianity has a commonality with other religions. It is the instruction to deal with other people the way we would like them to deal with us. The Reciprocity Principle. The Golden Rule. Often times in arrogance, hate, or distrust it is forgotten to the detriment of us all.

    Pretty deep topic.
I grew up and spent a portion of my adult life going to church.
I don't anymore. Couple of bad experiences and increased hypocrisy of various religious organizations made that difficult.
I believe there is a higher power, I believe I am a good person and I know I raised good kids, mostly outside the church.

I will tell you I feel closer to a creator running trails in the middle of the mountains than I ever did in Church.

These times and trails are Thin Places for you, places and moments that open your soul in ways not found in life's quotidian routines or usual locales.

Do you really want what you deserve? I am glad I am not getting what I deserve. I sin each and every day. On my best day I fall short.

The closest thing to "My God" is the movie the "Shack".
